RIP Jean Karakos (BYG Records/Celluloid/Amougies festival)

Just heard from a friend who heard it from Urban Sax manager Gilles Yepremian.

A legendary figure. Never managed to meet or interview him, although thankfully people from the BNF (National French Library) did a series of interviews with him for their archives a few years ago.

I personally wish the interviewers had done their homework a bit more. They missed a number of interesting topics of discussion because they seemed to know little about BYG outside of a few very general notions, and seemed more interested in discussing his later commercial success with the "Lambada" dance craze.
