Thanks, that was a nice counter to all the RIP threads. Although I hadn't heard of a good many on this list....
Did anyone mention R.I.P. Nat Hentoff?
Glad to see Sonny Burgess is still with us at 85. His 60-year-old rockabilly number "Red Headed Woman" has got to be one of the most kick-ass RnR tunes out there.

Looking forward to my day in court.
I have actually met some of the list members...what I remember.
1. John Mayall
2. Ronnie Hawkins
3. Frankie Valli

I just saw an 80 year old Buddy Guy kick my ass last Friday night. The man is still amazing.
On the list, I've met:
Tony Bennett, when he was about 65 & did a signing at a local record store. When I told him that I grew up about a mile from where he did, I managed to piss off all the people in line behind me as he started to chat with me about Astoria & took up a couple of minutes instead of just a handshake and a quick autograph.
Willie Winfield, the lead singer of the legendary doowop group The Harptones. Shook his hand at an Alan Freed festival when I was 12.
Ian Tyson, half of folkies Ian & Sylvia & countrymen of adap2it. Actually sat down at dinner with Ian, Sylvia & others & ate spaghetti that Sylvia Fricker (who wrote "You Were On My Mind") prepared in a coffeehouse kitchen during the summer of 1964, when I was 19.

I won't mind growing old, I just don't want to become senile.

Hope I get (somewhat) old before I die, though
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
I'm OLD...I believe the oldest on PE. I will be 77 this year and after 12 months of retirement, can say with authority that if you manage to stay healthy, it's not a lot different from your middle age years. I still listen to weird music daily, drink booze most days and get high occasionally.

I'm adap2it's bastard child and I'm only 72.
Just change the "12 months" to "7 years" and eliminate the word occasionally from his post and I could have written it.

H'mmm. That list pushes the boundaries for "rock stars." Vera Lynn? Doris Day? Really?
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.
I get high with a little help from my friends. At any age!
I credit my longevity, at least in a youthful sense, to my musical tastes throughout the years. Keeping in touch with what's going on in the world of music has done a lot for me in terms of not allowing a divide to take over my life. I still maintain an open mind musically that I feel is a big advantage over the typical age related views of modern music. OTOH...Rap is the exception.
