So just for clarity: NOT expecting that anyone is going to rush out and buy this so it's nothing like that. But I DO think this is really fascinating and amazing and creative, and I love that there are folks out there creating unique instruments like this:

If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

This sounds super-cool! I could see (hear!) some good uses for something like this! Thx for sharing!

    Oceanic

Would be great for meditative/ambient work. Is there any real market for this stuff anymore? I think it would be too lite for even Echoes.

So the synth is actually a bundle:

    * Oceanic: the actual algorithm engine, but doesn't actually make sound and is a standalone app
    * WaveBot: the sound generator, communicates with Oceanic in real time and is a VST3
    * WaveCC: generates MIDI CC based on Oceanic, again in real time and is a VST/DLL

The latter is actually the most intriguing to me...I am assuming it can communicate with ANY devices that accept MIDI CC messages. If so, then this could be a very interesting way to add some modulation variety to things like pads or even leads (especially in more subtle amounts). The drone stuff certainly is impressive just from a "whoa, what a creative idea" angle.

I see your point; it could be a very cool way to modulate one’s synths in a way that no one else is doing. Please let us know if you find out more about that angle, especially if you try it yourself!

Per our on-going conversations about using different styles of controllers to arrive at more expression, here is a decent, basic look at other controllers (from the folks at Sweetwater):

That's an interesting article, given that a fair bit of the "real estate" is given over to pedals and things Definitely a great list of gadgets

I still, STILL think that the greatest tragedy was Sensel discontinuing the Morph during the pandemic. I think it was easily the most versatile and affordable MPE-style controller on the market and I still use mine heavily. The next closest would be the Joue which just doesn't have the same capabilities IMHO. The Erae Touch had potential and using an LED surface introduced a very cool "completely change the layout" approach without needing separate physical overlays...but IMHO the resolution and sensitivity just wasn't there. It would work well for hand and stick percussion, but I can't see myself using it for anything more subtle.

I see some used Morphs out there…I assume that they would include the necessary software and/or it is still accessible on their website??

Downloaded Bucket One from Full Bucket Music, which I found through KVR Audio. It is a virtual Bit 99 clone and I have to say it sounds like my old Bit 99 and it has the same inferface from hell, to make new sounds.

Here's my fresh TabMuse review of XILS-Lab's PolyKB III. I'm the dipshit who thought it was Xils's own design and not an emulation of a classic piece of hardware and then I learned about the PolyKobol when doing my research. Had to rewrite my lede. Hahaha.
