Going back a few pages...the ASM Hydrasynth...have you a strong opinion on it? I sort of feel pulled to it.
I think it might be THE most versatile keyboard synth on the market right now, and the ONLY traditional synth with an actual keybed capable of polyphonic aftertouch. The desktop is also amazing even sans the keyboard/ribbon/wheels.
So yeah...I don't really have a strong opinion either way

Some of the Moog iOS apps are free though some have in-app purchases (extras, I guess, most are inexpensive). Here's an article about that.

I started looking at all the current offerings a few weeks ago since I decided my birthday present needed to be a new synth. There were lots of interesting modules but nothing looked as cool, innovative, and “new” as the Hydrasynth. I was leaning towards it but John’s rousing review put me over the edge. The MPE controller and the ribbon really looked expressive. (I very much enjoy the long ribbon on my old Kurzweil so I was pleased to see one on the Hydra.)Oh yeah, I got the Hydrasynth when it was first released. In the “Old Business” (old synths) category, I’d like opinions on this:
My old synth buddy wants to finally let go of his remaining modules and a board. The latter is a Roland JX-8P. I already own his old Super JX (JX-10P). So do I snag it? And if so, what is a good “buddy price” to offer him?
The 10P covers most anything in that realm, but the 8P is such a classy “looker.” While only 6 voices, it would layer up (or split) so well with the 10P. I know this because when I first met him in 1987 or so, the two were what made him look like a god in my eyes (ha). And they did sound great together.
Naturally, my 3080 module does most of all that (with more polyphony), but there is nothing like the real thing. And the keyboard version just looks so good and feels so good.
(And yes, I hear you say: “just buy it and sell it on Reverb for a PROFIT!”)

I would say buy it, but defenitly not say, sell it again for a profit. If you feel like buying it, buy it.
Hmmmmm...looks like prices these days float around $600-800 for a decent condition JX-8P. If he's a great buddy and it's in excellent shape...$300-$350 maybe?

I have their PG-300 clone for the MKS-50 and think it's fabulous
(PS: haven't forgotten about a certain velocity question asked offline...been a bonkers week, need to spend a few with the HS and figure it out

That DT 800 looks fab. I do have the original Roland controller but of course I use it for the 10p. It would be great to have the DT for the 8p.

Minor update from a while ago...thanks to a big ol' assist from one of the guys who helped reverse engineer the Elka Synthex into the Xerxes synth, I've got a fully working Xerxes againIn less than 12 hours he reseated the chip and gave the entire unit a spa day, calibrating and confirming everything was working as desired. Arrived back home yesterday and is working like a charm. Now I can get back to pretending I'm Jean-Michel Jarre circa 1984 and riff on the lazer harp preset for hours on end
