Here's some podcast of some early synth musicians. I haven't listened to any of them yet, but thought I'd share if you're interested.

    Neat!! Thanks for sharing
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

I'm not sure if I see any stuff in that studio I wouldn't like to use.

Check out this vintage Teisco synth demo by the amazing Juha Kujapnää. The "voice" patch sounds really tasty.

    ^Holy shades of Vangelis!

That unit sounds fantastic. The square wave preset is tasty, and the guy's chops had me assume it's a poly. Nope! It's monophonic. Thanks for the post.

Oh I agree. There's a whole thread called "SoundCloud" where those of us who compose and record for ourselves present our music. Please, please contribute your music there. We all want to hear it

Heh, well...unfortunately my own "pandemic anxiety" manifested as a massive creative block. I've had no interest in writing at all for the past 18 months or however long it's been. Mostly spent time focused on tutorials for some of my trickier synths like the Continuum, as well as getting the Xerxes repaired, etc..

That being said...holy god these are gorgeous: https://www.musictech.net/news/gear/...plorer-deluxe/

I am soooo tempted by the 73-key version but...well, if in another year they release an 88-note full weighted version, my wallet's a goner

The Hydrasynth to my ears is the best hybrid synth in it's price and even better than some more expensive synths that have been released.
If I were in the market for a new synth, I would be all over it, and now this 73 key version at $1799 is a no brainer..brilliant pricing by ASM.
The amount of modulation routings, the richness of the filters are amazing, and a lot of "synth geek" engineering has gone into it's design in my opinion.

I was shocked when I listened to quite a few sound demos of Sequential Circuits new synth Take 5. I think the Hydrasynth cleans the floor with it, and the Take 5 sounds very meh to me.
There is something brittle and harsh to it's sounds, and it also sounds like it's not opening up the sound, like it has a thin veil over it.
But people and critics are gushing about it, and I'm like wtf, are you folks really listening to it?
I think the Hydrasynth as well as another competitor in the same price range, the Korg Prologue 8 or 16 sound a lot better.
They are even misleading folks by saying it has the new Prophet 5 Rev 4 Low Pass Filer(read the small print.."BASED on the Prophet 5 Rev 4 filter)..which is weird because I believe the Pro 3 does have that filter.

To my ears, Dave, for most of his synths tries to give them a crackly distortion type sound, even when using a analog vco and/or filter.
I had the Poly Evolver and it had "that" sound. I also had a OB6 and it was the one product from him I think sounds gorgeous and amazing.

John, sorry to hear you're not in the mood to create anything. I know you put a lot of time, heart and soul into your wonderful album Between the Axiom and the Sigh.
Between recharging your creativity and the distraction of the pandemic, it only seems natural this would occur.
I like how you're handling your down time by doing positive things.

It sure is an interesting synthesizer and with a nice price-tag. I wonder if it comes with some editing, or library software, something I really miss on my Waldorf Blofeld. Yes, there is editing software, but it has to be bought seperatly.

Now if I would win a big lottery-price, to make me financially independant...

I hear you. My lame job's made me feel that way for a long time and I'm barely emerging from it.

I wonder why they didn't go with the old 76-key standard. Either way, I'm getting one next year. Too many money woes this year, but I'm getting the cards paid down. There is light at the end of this tunnel!

Curiously, what was the tag to repair the Xerxes?

    Thought this interface looked interesting.
Not sure how easy it would be to get repeatable sounds.

It was a beautiful thing; one of the gents who actually helped design the Xerxes offered to do it for free, as long as I covered the shipping. So it was just the cost of shipping to/from the west coast. A superhero and a half.

I've been using the same 88-note weighted controller for decades, an Alesis QS8. If an 88-note weighted keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch were to happen, I'd upgrade in a heartbeat. Or less even.

Roli was always my least favorite of the alternate MPE-enabled controllers, so I'm not exactly shedding high tears on this one...but it's still not awesome news. Here's hoping the other manufacturers have slightly better business plans!
