Kinda interested in this, but CNN's endless promotion of this the las couple of days has kind of put me off it.

Curious how they portray those no longer in the group.

The band doesn't get enough credit. Interesting learning about the dynamics of working together for so long. Ashamed to say that a Canadian like David Foster comes across like a self-aggrandizing dickhead but that's what he is.

Wasn't there a TV show broadcast from the Caribou Ranch back in the 70's? There's a lot of footage from it in the documentary. Boy, Terry Kath was a monster player!

Was it called "Chicago: In The Rockies" or something like that?

How did Danny Seraphine go from one of the best drummers in the 70s to suddenly unable to play? Seems like there was more to the story.

Also, Peter Cetera gets off a bit lightly. Did not even want to attend the induction after a lot of pressure and acting like he was thinking about it. But he lost a lot of credibility when he left the group for the David Foster sound.

I also thought they would introduce the newest bassist who seems to have given them a shot in the arm.

Really disappointed in how amateurish and basically uninformative this documentary was. I have seen 30 for 30 specials that were far far better.

that's exactly what i thought. and from what i've heard, there's nothing special about Imboden's playing - certainly nothing that Danny couldn't have handled.

amazing they're still around given the fact they totally lost it after Kath died. i also didn't realize they were such hardcore druggies. man, how did they not kill themselves?

Danny can play drums. I saw him recently with the California Transit Authority.

Scheff was still with them when Kay & I saw them in 2013.

for those like me who lost track of all the personnel changes, here's a timeline pic..

still lists Scheff as the most recent bassist but he didn't quit til as recently as Oct last year.

I don't know all the details, but I've heard that struggling to work with the 80's programmed drum gear onstage had something to do with it.

when David Foster entered.... Danny & Peter soon gone. i guess they didn't fit in with the pop commercial direction Foster was taking them.

Cetera was only featured through file footage, no recent interviews.

Both Cetera & Foster come across as such humble, self-effacing dudes.

Cetera was forced out of the band because he wouldn't sign a contract saying he couldn't record outside Chicago. I've listened to a few interviews and he seems like a pretty modest and straightforward guy.

The documentary has him asking for more than a proportionate share of the group's profits after his schmaltzy songwriting began to generate hits. He sounded like maybe his ego grew as did his central role in the Foster-directed songwriting team which basically froze out the compositions of the other members.

I wanted to see the documentary but forgot about it. I lost interest in Chicago after VIII. Even before Terry died they were going in a crappy direction.
