Never a fan but a fantastic singer!

    Only 53...SHOCKED!

Never knew he was ill but his 'drug' problems where frequently in the public domain.

    RIP

Loved the Wham singles - pretty much perfect pop IMO. HIS AOR stufff was not that interestung to me, but he does a good job on this classic (with some help from the Master):

    Rest easy, George.

Does it matter that this waste of time is what makes a life for you?

    unbelievable.

My wife is an Enormous Fan. This has come as huge shock, really out of nowhere. Kind of ruining her X-Mas.

He was planning a documentary, new album and Tour over the next couple of years. The Documentary and even album might still happen, posthumously, but the tour unfortunately won't.

This really sucks. Probably more than any other celebrity death of the past few years for her, even more than Prince, this sucks big time.

RIP. Like others, not a huge fan but nonetheless a great singer. He should have prayed for time.

I remember for his second solo album his record company demanded he make normal music videos. The first single above was just a before-its-time YouTube style lyric video; the second single just had supermodels lipsyncing his vocals. Even if you never liked his music, at least at one point the guy had balls.

Wham were always a guilty pleasure for me and I actually saw Michael solo in '88. Big arena, girls screaming everywhere. Fun show and a talented guy. RIP.

    This is sad.

He had been near death from pneumonia a few years ago and publicly thanked his doctors for saving his life.

I had made fun of Wham! but in college liked the song "Father Figure". A friend handed me his "Listen Without Prejudice, Vol 1" CD and didn't want it at first. George Michael? No thanks. But I was shocked at how much I liked it and when I finally returned it to my friend he grinned and said: "See what can happen when you listen without prejudice?" That friend later died at 53, the same age as George Michael.

Wow, he was too young. a very talented - and apparently tormented - young man with a singularly great voice. Sorry to see him go, but he did leave us with a lot of highly memorable music.

    My immediate thought:

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, But the very next day you gave it away. This year to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special.

    R.I.P.

This movie I saw a month or two ago contains a funny but (I think) sincere tribute to George Michael. Had no idea he would be gone before the year was out. Rest in peace, young man.

I thought his Faith album was as good as pop music got in the '80s, ranking up there with anything Michael Jackson or Prince put out (IMO for you taste police out there).

For those of you who liked Faith, I thought the next album (Listen Without Prejudice) was great too in a more subdued style.

While Freddie Mercury was irreplaceable, both George Michael and (to a much lesser-extent) Adam Lambert were the only two vocalists I would have accepted a band called "Queen" to release new material had that happened (Nothing against Paul Rodgers, who is a very good singer, but I didnt think he was a good fit with Queen)

    RIP George Michael.......

Because you didn't look at all. It was on the same page, 2 threads away from yours.

I was looking at this forum, but there are too many *RIP* threads recently, so I overlooked.
By the way, I don't recognize the racist courts as legitimate.
