I went to the show in Irvine, California this past Saturday. Good show. The new song, "Love Lounge", works well in a concert setting. Spoke with the band and management after their appearance and we set aside plans for later this year to have me work with them on some merch and product for upcoming releases.

They are playing about 45 minutes from me, but it is the Monday I will most likely be travelling home from ProgDay.

Video doesn't do much for me but the song is promising. Guess I need to find out when the album comes out.

Zero interest in seeing Counting Crows but this might be worth a few lawn seats and an early night anyway.

Their debut was amazing, Ed is one amazing vocalist!!! Their bass player is fucking insanely great, too.

The summer tour wrapped up a little over a week ago. Their EP will be released in a few weeks. More updates should be coming very soon.

Did anything come of your discussion with the band re: working on merch, etc.?

    Thanks for asking!

Yes. After presenting them with many options, it looks like my role has been elevated considerably beyond merch. We're in the middle of working out the details/schedules. They go to Australia in October, so if all works out, I will be in York, PA with the band for a handful of days sometime next week prior to them leaving. I'll update this thread with news.

I forgot to add that their EP title is Local 717.

It's a done deal. I am officially on board for the Throwing Copper 25th Anniversary Remaster. However, merchandise isn't the primary role for me on this. If any of you have the THUD 20th Anniversary 3-CD Set I helped produce, then you're going to be excited to know that this release looks to be similar, but with so much more. My role with Live will be similar: going through their vaults with them and choosing the best of the best outtakes, demos, alt. mixes, instrumentals, live shows, etc. From what they have told me, they were good in collecting as much as they could dating back to when they were in elementary school . That includes keeping old set lists, merch, video, photos... and of course, their recordings.

Check out their facility where I will be starting the journey -- watch the video if you can and click around the website:

    congrats on the gig Gruno!

I like Live, although I'm not sure enough to need to purchase a deluxe version of Throwing Copper just yet. But I'm sure the really big fans will be snatching those things up very quickly.

Pardon the pun, but get some live tracks on there. Should be a lot to choose from.

    Done!

I finished all my work for this project. I spent 3 days in October living at their studio in York, Pennsylvania. The link to the studio is above in a previous post. They have these apartments in the studio and it's top notch. I was organizing and archiving their history there. It was a bit overwhelming, as most of it was unorganized. I am glad they kept almost everything from their career dating back to middle school. However, I had a limited amount of time to gather the Throwing Copper era material.

The cool part about staying there was that once everyone left at about 8 or 9pm, I was able to stay up as late as I wanted without any interruptions. Since my body clock was on west coast time, I was working until 3am, showering and eating, then reviewing items until about 4am, then sleep until about 8am. After night 1, we formed a good archiving plan and went forward from there. It was here that my role in this project changed.

I flew home with as many delicate items as I could. This included slides, photos, memorabilia, LPs, 45s, etc. I would be handling all the scanning of slides, negatives, photos, periodicals, etc. As well as photographing and cataloging memorabilia, stage-used items, passes, picks, sticks, etc. That week they shipped a few boxes of memorabilia, CDs, LPs, photos, slides, and VHS.

I had just a few weeks to complete all of this so that the designers could start with the artwork. I had a good system set up with VHS transfers running on one computer system while I was scanning slides and proof sheets on another. This wasn't just scanning some pics. There were thousands of images. Some were in great condition; some not so much.

A lot of the photos were unlabelled. I had to research the best I could to determine photographer, date, location -- when possible.

A month later I was done. Uploaded all images. The artwork came out awesome. I like what their designer did. The remaster will include 3 additional studio tracks that were recorded during the sessions but omitted. The bonus is the full Woodstock '94 performance. This release will also be available on LP.

The promotion has started this week, so they are starting to use photos and video from the archives. Check their social media pages. Today they released the single outtake, "Hold Me Up", that has been a huge Holy Grail for Live fans. Click that link to listen.

The album is set to be released in July. Their tour, with Bush, starts early June. I do have one more project I worked on that was pretty intense. We put it to bed 2 weeks ago. Once I have word that it went through without a snag, then I will proudly inform all what it is. I am eager to detail this project, as it just sort of fell into my lap and it is a highlight in my career.

Finally! I'm not a huge Live fan (I like a handful of tunes), but this is a great song. It was featured in the movie "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" (2008).

Yeah, everyone was hoping that track would end up on the soundtrack, but it did not.

There is an annual music festival called The Sound Of Music in my town, just two blocks from where I live. I can hear the bands without even having to go down there - which can be annoying sometimes.

But right now, Live has just begun their set, and I can clearly hear the familiar strains of The Dam At Otter Creek - and I haven't even opened the windows yet!

Edit: after that was All Over You, Selling The Drama, and now they are doing a cover of Losing My Religion. Kind of fun to have my own little free concert in the comfort of my home!
