    2112 40th anniversary

No 5.1 and no comic book apparently. The 76 and 77 live tracks sound intriguing. I don't know which if any of these have been officially released before

I remember when this came out back in the day... one of my friends was totally ga-ga over it. Personally, I couldn't get passed the screeching vocals even though I loved the music
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

the fact the bonus material is other artists covering Rush makes me run away from this release.
especially those Foo Fracker dudes... can't stand them.

Last night I sat down and listened to the original album all the way through, no interruptions, and still thoroughly enjoyed it 36 years on.

I came a little late to the party after my schoolmates went to see the band on the Permanent Waves tour (and are on the Exit Stage Left album, side two, Glasgow choir on Closer To The Heart). One schoolmate took pity on the classroom geek, and offered to lend me his 2112 and Hemispheres LPs for an evening, and I was up and running with band after that.

I only had a portable mono cassette player back then, so I had to cycle to this schoolmate's house and collect his LPs, then cycle to another mate's house where he had a record player that was compatible with my cassette player. I only got one shot at recording the LPs before they had to go back that same evening, so we sat silently through both of them as the cassette rolled, and even on that first tense listen I knew that 2112 was going to be something special.

Of course, one of us bumped against the deck and the needle jumped, so even to this day Oracle sounds strange when it doesn't skip midway through

What, no Steven Wilson 5.1 surround?? oh well, at least i can get a cool skate deck.

BTW, did anyone catch the Rush reference on The Family Guy last sunday?? kind of funny. How many times has Rush been featured on television (i have Simpson, Cobert and now Family Guy, i'm sure there's more).

2112 has held up very well over the years. Great album.

I would totally agree with you, if it wasn't for this incentive being more than enough to make up for that:

Every 2112 40th Anniversary pre-order through Rush Backstage will get a 2112 40th Anniversary sticker as a bonus item while supplies last!

Wow, a STICKER! Rush, being one of those bands that doesn't have any unused material/demos lying around, had to bring in other bands for bonus content. I heard AIC doing Tears. It's not bad. I love AIC, but I also love the original Tears so much, I really don't need a cover version in my collection. I'm interested to hear Wilson's take on Twilight Zone. Outside of that, I'm happy with my original vinyl, a tube amp, and a pair of speakers.

Funny how people are so ready to believe this.

Your constant speculating is pretty funny too.

It isn't speculation. Remember the alternate cover to Signals?

It's Rush, it's my favorite Rush album...so I'm all over this. Having said that, the cover songs are something I don't want or need.

There are no unreleased studio songs. There is a long record of band members (mostly Geddy and most recently during in Stombo interview) saying there is no vault of unreleased studio songs.

Another Tears cover by a Long Island band:
