One of my heroes Steve Tibbets dig that dirty tone
I ador that Fred Frith typical fuzz tone he used in the 70's - unique
So dreamy pastoral
checkout his tone here amazing
Conventum -Rene Lussier and Andre Duchsane
Love those fuzz leads - delicate not bracing
Adrian Belew amazing over the top tones
Josip Boček (ex-Korni Grupa)
Miodrag Bata Kostić (ex-YU Grupa)

guitar tones... if I understand correctly, it's more about sound rather than virtuosity.
but good playing also..
related to Udi's Gong above, Steve Hillage is one of my favourits ever. I'm pretty surprised he didnt mentioned yet
for instance, Salmon Song, live.
Jeff Beck Goodbye Pork Pie Hat

Robert Fripp - Red, Starless, Night watch, I Talk To the Wind
Martin Barre - Aqualung, Misntrel In The Gallery
Steve Hackett Giant Steps
Zappa - Zoot Allures
Allan Holdsworth - Bruford's track 'Hells Bells"
Gary Green - His Last Voyage
John McLaughlin One Word
What about the guitar tones in the four albums Jade Warrior recorded for Islands? I can't check the name of the guitar player now, but the guitar tones are to die for from "Floating World" to "Ways of the sun" (the ones I know and own, anyway).
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
Vedran Božić in Hegedupa upa (an untranslatable word) from Time eponymous s/t debut from 1972.
An interesting detail is that Vedran Božić was played a concert in a night club in the former West Germany with Jimi Hendrix in 1969, because Jimi, who was at his German tour and just went in that club that night, loved how Vedran Božić and his pre-Time band "Roboti" were playing Hey Joe and hence he joined the band on the stage. Then they were played together Foxy Lady and the other songs from Hendrix' catalogue.
Once more for the tone deaf.
