Toro y Moi — Outer Peace
Love this guy, he’s my favorite artist of the 2010s probably, but... I’m not sure how I feel about this one yet. Gonna take some time to get acquainted with it.

Recent thrift store find: The Naked Carmen, an “electric rock opera.” I have been curious about this for a long time, which dates from back when people were still taking the concept of “rock opera” seriously. For every Tommy or S.F. Sorrow, there were half a dozen albums like this, which looks like an absolute dog’s breakfast of a project (and the one song I have heard from this seems to confirm this perception). Composer/producers John Corigliano (subsequently a classical composer of some renown in his own right) and David Hess (best-known for the soundtrack to Last House on the Left) have assembled stage musical singers, a gospel choir, a Moog synthesizer, a rock band (Pig Iron) and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in the service of an electrified update of Bizet’s Carmen. The one name you’re likely to have heard from this is Melba Moore, the voice of Carmen herself.
Trying to Google this album is an exercise in futility, on account of the cavalcade of perverts looking for nudie pictures of Carmen Electra.
