Dude… Steely Dan and Toro y Moi are two of my most favorite bands/artists ever. And I like what I’ve heard by the High Llamas too.

Gonna have to check that one out.

Pretty sure you'll dig this one then. It would be the 'Underneath The Pines' era of Toro y Moi, chill and jazzy. Someone posted a clip of it on the High Llamas facebook page and I bought it right away. Mild High Club have a couple others out too which I haven't heard.

Sweet! Underneath the Pine is a great record. My fave by TyM is Anything in Return, but I own all of his albums (on CD and vinyl), and they're all good.

Anyway, you've sold me on this Mild High Club disc. I'm gonna check it out today.

Edit: Just listened to the whole thing, and immediately went and ordered the LP from Bandcamp. This is top-notch stuff.

Bill, have you heard Benny Sings before? His album City Pop is really nice. I get a little bit of a Todd Rundgren vibe from it on some tracks. Lots of piano-led pop tunes, well-crafted too. There are other influences, but I'm struggling to place them right now (maybe a bit of Toro y Moi, now that I think about it). Was a very pleasant surprise for me.

Benny Sings (real name: Tim van Berkestijn) is one of those Dutch acts who are Big In Japan, but hardly listened to in The Netherlands itself. I bought his last two albums for my wife and indeed the Steely Dan-vibe is there, but I also hear Michael Franks-stuff in it.
