Cowboys From Hell (not the Pantera-CD) is a trio from Switzerland. The band (bass, drums, tenor-sax, fx) released a third album this year, called Running Man.

Just heard "Cousin From Another Planet" from keyboard-man Aaron Whitby and think this new album fits in here perfectly.
Here's a trailer: https://vimeo.com/339793209
As you can see on his website the releaseparty is today, Sunday 23rd in NYC
Short samples can be heard over here: http://www.cousinfromanotherplanet.com/music/

Another one for this thread: famous jazz-drummer/multi-instrumentalist Gerry Gibbs and his Thrasher People came with a real jazz-symphony called "Our People".
Impressive!
Greetings,
Not sure if I mentioned this band before, but they're quite interesting as well IMO:

Not sure if this was posted here before, but I can't get enough of this track and the band behind it:
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Just picked up this 36 year old CD and it's a beauty! It features some great fretless bass, and violin in addition to sax, and a touch of other woodwinds and guitar. The album concludes with a beautiful duet for harp and violin.
Some pretty great stuff here from a couple of young prodigies:
