Given that this gig was just a couple of months before they went into the studio to record the first LP, it's disappointing that the setlist is virtually all "covers."

there are 2 originals, but if you've heard their later shows, it's like they went full circle. no pun intended. I just hope it's Jim on all vocals, not Ray.

This is interesting, but not the earliest recordings. There are 1965 demos out there. So, it's the earliest live one. I would expect Jim to be singing most, if not all, of the tracks. Or he might be harmonizing with Ray, like the demos from '65.

I see it's an audience recording. But, no mentions of the sound quality.

the recording of 'Strange Days" from the show was on YT but has been taken down. it was recorded on reel to reel. The sound was a little bit distant but pretty good from what I recall. correct, it's the earliest live recording, which the first article states. How recently discovered it is, well, that's a matter of opinion; it's been discussed on a Doors msg board for 5 years. they've been holding it a while, waiting for the 50th anniv 'celebration' of 2017. We were hoping for an early 2016 release to mark the 50th anniv of the recording. There are supposedly several releases scheduled for next year. Hopefully the complete Matrix shows will come out. There are some SDB quality other shows from 1970 that haven't come out. I'd like to see some live releases from 67 and 68, and an official release of the Miami show from March 69. I have that, but I wonder what Bruce Botnick could do with it.

Fifty smackers for a 7-song EP? Major Doors fan here, but I'm passing on this until they come out with a more sensible version.

It's a three-disc set. The Amazon links shows a longer set list, which, I guess, is from different nights or sets:

    Disc: 1
    1. Tuning (I) [Live at London Fog 1966]
    2. Rock Me (Live at London Fog 1966)
    3. Baby Please Don't Go (Live at London Fog 1966)
    4. You Make Me Real (Live at London Fog 1966)

    Disc: 2
    1. Tuning (II) [Live at London Fog 1966]
    2. Don't Fight It (Live at London Fog 1966)
    3. I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man (Live at London Fog 1966)
    4. Strange Days (Live at London Fog 1966)
    5. Lucille (Live at London Fog 1966)

    Disc: 3
    1. Tuning (I) [Live at London Fog 1966]
    2. Rock Me (Live at London Fog 1966)
    3. Baby Please Don't Go (Live at London Fog 1966)
    4. You Make Me Real (Live at London Fog 1966)
    5. Tuning (II) [Live at London Fog 1966]
    6. Don't Fight It (Live at London Fog 1966)
    7. I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man (Live at London Fog 1966)
    8. Strange Days (Live at London Fog 1966)
    9. Lucille (Live at London Fog 1966)

It does seem a bit confusing, though.

^ As far as I can tell, "Discs" 1 & 2 are actually sides 1 and 2 of the 10" vinyl, and Disc 3 is the CD with the same songs repeated.

That's correct, from what I understand, but there's more to it than that. Read the entire article from the first link. for one, there are 18,000 numbered copies, so it's a Collector's thing. I'm sure the recording will be at Pirate Bay or YT, if you don't care about the merch inside. I just thought I'd post it here so people who are interested can be aware.

Just because I can't see ponying up for this myself doesn't mean it isn't valuable and interesting news. Thanks for posting it!

    Okay, that makes more sense.

I know some of you won't find this acceptable, but I have all the live stuff they've released and some they haven't. If you want a copy of anything, PM me. or buy it at Amazon.
