That cinematic coda to Wireless, though. Seriously. It french kisses me every single time.

OK, I just pulled the trigger on a VG+/NM copy of On Land from some cat in The Netherlands named Tom on Discogs. It is by far my most expensive vinyl purchase (almost embarrassingly so) but not totally over the top. Not sure how I am going to break the news to my wife about this PayPal charge - I'm serious about that. Excited! Excited!
If it isn't Krautrock, it's krap.

Burlington. And I live two blocks from the lake, but I think if you swam from Rochester you'd end up more in Peterborough area, nowhere near me. We did grow up with the same climate though! We used to drive down to Buffalo to see shows at the Memorial auditorium, back in the days when that was easier to do. Only took just over an hour, unless you hit that nasty Buffalo lake effect snow.

PS - Buds and Spawn hit me again as one of the greatest Cardiacs tune - I have sometimes struggled with the intensity/form at times, but I've just given up and let it wallop me. Tim's vocals are absolute TOPS on this too - has he ever sounded better?
PS - Does anybody know what the instrumental part of "Too Go Off.." is that serves as the 'coda' on the Maresnest version? I can't place it as a Cardiacs melody and it's possible its just another great scored section written by Tim played during this era?

It's called Bic's Bit. Apparently written by Tim, but giving Bic a chance to show off and fall into the crowd (Bic being a certain Christian Hayes from Levitation and Mikrokosmos fame)
I suppose everyone has noticed Jon Poole and Bob Leith in the Maresnest front row right?
In taking a break from Udi's 19+ hour Morricone compilation, I blissed out to both these diamond nuggets. There are no words to describe the utter amazingness of the moments captured in time here. The band is on fire for both and you really witness how brilliant Tim was not only in his playing/singing on these but his humorous and commanding stage presence. He exuded warmth and friendliness, even in quick smile. Jim with a goatee too! What gems.
PS - there might even be a Sir Kavus sighting near the end of the Bolton gig. I guess this was The Sing to God Tour (if that even existed?).
PPS - They played "Ideal" on the 93 gig!!! Ideal!!! Fucking hell.

Got them last week! I've listened more to A little man... so far and am really connecting to it. Sing to God will take a few more through-listens, I think. But they're both amazing; completely insane, and I love it. I also picked up three Knifeworld albums, Hip to the Jag, and The Utopia Strong s/t, so I'm kind of immersing myself in all those worlds as time permits. Fun times!

Happy with what I have to be happy with.
NP: On Land And In The Sea (Just cracked the shrink wrap on this CD, so my first full listen. I listened to about 1/2 of it on Spotify months ago. Not sure what to make of this one yet, but it's fun. Next listen I'm wearing reading glasses; tiny, blue type on white is a bitch! I like the blank page for Notes!)
