Dive. Love this fuckin tune. Half drunk but I like it anyway.
Ah yeah, Dive was one of my favorite tunes when first discovering Cardiacs. Must have had that one on repeat for days.
How many songs that sound like that also have keyboards and vibraphone in them? What?! (or is it marimba?)
Either way. Love it.
Thats what is so amazing about Cardiacs - pick a song... any - and it can occupy your life for a solid week. Dive was that about two weeks ago for me. Funny you mentioned it. In the end section, the tune shifts up and down by a tone or semitone (I think?) each time it's repeated. Genius!
^ Sea Nymphs II or unreleased Cardiacs or both?
Me likey.
They added a new "germ" (or whatever those are) every message, although they skipped 2 and went straight to 3. I might be over analysing this, but that's the way it all goes.
This band reminds me of VDGG, great music but shit vocals!

I blame Wynton, what was the question?
There are only 10 types of people in the World, those who understand binary and those that don't.
That might have been one reason, but i think we all know it was far from being the only one.
Good job on walking into the thread and farting though.
Wrong. It was Jim’s insistence on wearing nothing but Chanel N°5 and the occasional mink stole onstage that expunged any vestiges of the band’s commercial appeal. His uncouth proclivities even spawned a cottage industry of quacks counseling erstwhile concert attendees shell-shocked by the sight of louche Jim in action.
If you don’t like the vocals but the music, you might want to check out the tribute album.

Not sure if this has been covered here or not, but what are your thoughts on the two earliest albums - The Obvious Identity and Toy World? Do you guys consider them 'official' Cardiacs records or do you start with The Seaside (or possibly even A Little Man)? The reissue of The Seaside has me loving that album and its worthy as anything they ever made, however the first two are definitely my least listened-to albums and still somewhat uncharted territory. I'm not sure there is a 'correct answer' here, just looking for some opinions and thoughts.
btw, "Over and over and over and over" is a pretty monstrous tune.
Those first two get no plays coz I do not own them. Are they real albums? They never got an official release. I consider them demo tapes. The garage concerts however, gets lotsa plays at Thedunnos. A band in top form with great sound quality. Every version is superior to the original recording.
Btw, Pip as uncle Dick but Peter spoilt it is a fantastic tune.
Well, that's the thing - I'm not sure how Tim views these albums now? He obviously felt that some of these tunes were very worthy, hence The Garage Concerts. They can be found BTW with a search online, or at least they could have years ago.
As for The Garage Concerts, totally agreed. Its as good as the early live albums including Mares Nest imo. Apples and oranges, but the dual guitars of Sir Kavus and Tim are spine-melting (is that a word?), easily on par with anything that Poole and Tim did to my ears. The band is just fucking ridiculously tight and emphasizes how brilliant Tim was even in the early days.
Its all fuckin' good, even the early early stuff.
I guess if those two did get official releases, some fans might view them differently and it would fill-in-the-blanks a bit more on the historical context of this band and music. Doubt that will ever happen, though.
