Nice, new 12 string for opening night!
I see on John's website that this guitar was hand made by Paul Reed Smith and will be auctioned off after the tour for charity.

Indeed! I'd be interested to find out how much he actually plays it. Can someone who's seen the show comment?

I'd say John played the new double neck PRS for 30 minutes tops during last night's show. Here's a pic from the flyer on the guitar that was handed out IMG_0675.jpg

A new show just popped up on Dime. Wish it had some sound bites.

Here's Jimmy's band covering a tune from a band Jimmy was in for a bit. Les Brers in A Minor....

^That guitar solo starting at 10:20 is something else. Good grief.

I was honestly disappointed in Port Chester. I was new to Herring, so that was a great surprise and treat! Jeff apt 258 Sipe was on the drum kit for him. Nice Hellborg, Shawn Lane connection there.
McLaughlin played what, 5 songs then brought out Herrings band?!?! That was great if you wanted to spend that time watching everyone else play! They're all great musicians, but I wanted to see McLaughlin play. When he did he was great. It jut wasnt enough for my money.

Well, he brought out Jimmy's band to play WITH his own band. One big SUPER Maha lineup. It wouldn't really be a Meeting of the Spirits if he didn't. Glad you saw the show regardless!

There were a lot of complaints about JM's tone sounding thin during the streaming. Did you feel that way too? I wouldn't say it was bad, but Jimmy's was better.... Of course a couple people in the chat tried to spin it into hate, the douches. Can anyone even share an opinion without some yayhoo treating them like a sinner?

Hey Sean, yeah I get that part, and Herring did a fantastic job, he's incredible. I really enjoyed both bands a lot. JM bass player was effing unbelievable. I'm glad I saw it too, make no mistake! Last chance I'll get to see the legend, grateful to see him.
I don't know if it was thin to be honest. Herring sounded "cleaner," and sharper? I'm not a musician so I'm not going to offer conjecture on why that was. I probably wouldn't have noticed if there wasn't that comparison between the two. So I don't know if it was a difference in the sound or playing chops? I'm a little hesitant to say too much not being a musician.

I think the same as you 2: it wasn´t that bad IMO!. (JM's tone sounding during the streaming.)

Great concert, I really enjoyed it!!

Some great stuff on that Capitol show. Loved the 'Visions....' material. There's hardly any live material from that album around, and they played it superbly.

The live stream was fantastic! All sets were amazing! Everyone looked so happy to be playing every note. John’s tone is better than its been in years. Beautiful PRS instruments. I never thought I’d see MO performed by John again. Two bands playing this music. Allman Brothers like drum solos. VoEB material too! December 8 in San Francisco!!! Me and WideOpenEars with shit eating grins on our faces! Brand X is November 13 as well! Ha Cha!

I believe John was using some DI preamp into the house.

A nice tube amp would have been nicer, but his playing made up for it a hundred fold imo.

To be honest, having seen Johnny Mac many times through the decades, his tone and choice of amplification always came across to me as an afterthought on his part.
