If I have to wait 3 minutes between posts, I won't be posting much. It's better now as a post limit.

I was actually waiting for someone else to begin this conversation. I too don't like it at all. Most of us are capable of having more than one thought in a 3 minute period.
If this is because of a bandwidth problem, I also agree that I'd prefer going back to the "post limit" thing.
I can't help but think that a lot of the problem is caused by the psychotic amount of extraneous videos embedded by people who believe that if you like the 1st video, then they're obligated to post another 10 videos that they think you might like, or a bunch of additional videos by the same band that you'd see listed on youtube anyway when you viewed the first one.
I always thought that this was primarily a site/forum for verbal discourse, rather than a surrogate youtube. Don't get me wrong, I've been introduced to a shitload of new music I love just like everyone else here from a video someone posted, but when an entire page is filled with embedded vids, something ain't quite right.

Perhaps it will cut down on the number of very short humorous (or not) replies that don't really add much to a discussion?
Did I miss the announcement that 'post counts' are now active?
That's exactly it.
No - there wasn't an announcement about it. I just opened up counts last night.
This system does not have a post-per-week (or whatever) limit capability, so we're going to have to assume that we won't have immature jerkoffs posting crap to push their post counts.
But then - we're all 15-or-so years older than when that kinda stuff happened on PEv2.

I like the limit.
Maybe it will cause people to think before they post.
I have no problems with it. Carry on.
I think and type pretty slowly.

After what that Hindu Love God did the other day I suspected we'd see this. That asswipe was posting as fast as they could. If it keeps idjits like that or that snake oil fool out, I can live with it.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
Not a fan of 'post counts' being on - for the above reason and also if my post count gets too high (whatever to my mind feels is too high - everyone will be different) I'll feel I'm wasting my time/life on the site. Somethings are better left unknown or unreported. Join date gives a good enough clue about the users history and if you want to know more you can always look at the users forum posts and see all posts.
I think the post count could very well be a sobering reminder of how much time is spent here, but I don't see that as a bad thing.

It could be worse. While you wait between posts, the site could rank albums, or artists, or 'underrated' guitarists. Count your blessings, and type slower.
