    I'm glad I don't post here often.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

I have been a member for probably 10 years, and I have never noticed the limit. But I tend to write novels, rather than pithy, obtuse comments. I'm glad there is no limit on number of bytes posted, or I would have to exercise more brevity, and expose thus, my lack of wit.

I don't think they keep track of replies. I guess Posts: N keeps track of threads started?

It's a post counter; not a thread started counter.

    It counts all posts.

(And I was pulling your leg about pushing the post count. Our concern about people pushing their counts isn't with regular, respected members - it's usually trolls etc. who'll do that sort of thing.)
    Regards,

    Duncan

+1 - I've also noticed that when asking about a band/album/etc. the first response is often posting a YouTube video. While that can be helpful, (1) I'm on this site and asking the question because I want to have a discussion about it, and (2) if I wanted a video, I would have searched for it myself before posting here. The written review seems to be dying in favor of a quick link, which is yet another reason I don't post much these days. It doesn't have to be a formal, long-form review. I'm just interested in people's *opinions*.

I don't mind the 3-mins between post rule (never aware it even existed), because it takes time to read and compose another post, so it was never a problem....

but what brought me here is another issue....

    Why unlock the post count??
(they were stuck at zero, and that suited me fine)

The last thing I need is to be reminded I spend far too much time on this site and post probably too much (for my tastes, anyways)

If we're too conscious of our time spent here, most of us will fdiminish our time.

Yes, and to be honest they are wasted posts. I know personally I just scroll right by the multiple YouTube links. Often they are standard videos any one of us could have searched out for ourselves had we been so inclined. And let's face it, there's one user who insists on doing it all day, every day. I don't understand...

Exactly. As though you hadn't thought to check YouTube. Being told to Google something is equally frustrating. I'm aware that I can Google it. I'm asking for opinions here, because I know a lot of the people and respect their view/advice.

Regarding the post count: We've had a lot of people saying they want it, and we've had some saying they don't.

Try as we might, we can't f***ing please everyone

So we are leaving it in place for now, and will re-evaluate...
    Regards,

    Duncan
