"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
I just spent 2 40 minute sessions chiseling out my MIL's driveway. It's not done yet, it should be above freezing again tomorrow so it will soften up some more.
She had it blown the other day ( at 4:30am !!!! oh hell no ) and the guys that did it left an inch of packed snow behind.
It started with 8". Don't know if she is going to use them again.
At work a couple of weeks ago we got a new Judge that chose a Chamber that had not been fully used ( day to day ) since the building was built in '96.
The small clerk offices had never been used and I was setting up their computers and stuff.
Plugged in a surge strip and a couple of items into that.
All good for a couple of minutes, but then the strip went dead. I picked it up to check the breaker and it was very warm. Perhaps a bum unit, it was brand new.
Went and got another ( same brand, new ) from the other clerk office and plugged it in, and POP! sparks and all the magic smoke came out.
Went down to my office and got one of those 3 prong circuit testers, with the indicator lights.
On half of the outlets in the two offices it registered something that was not supposed to happen. I contacted building maintenance who sent up a couple of guys.
They brought a VOM. The outlets with the strange readings had 200 volts. According to their electrician who had no reasonable explanation other than it must have been that way all along.
Most computer gear will work from 110-240, not the surge protectors. They got surged to death. It got fixed.
After supposed 'audits' and tests of the electrical system over the last 25 years it slipped by. A fluke?

We didn't have snow stay on the ground until 2 days ago (we can some earlier snow that was melted). I haven't needed my snow blower, just a quick shovel of light snow that is now on the ground for Christmas.

Fluke? Fluke makes the digital volt meters. https://www.fluke.com/en-us/products...al-multimeters
Seems to me at some point someone wired something wrong at the breaker panel - hard to believe it was wired that way from the beginning.

I'm getting my booster on Monday. British Columbia shutting down. Wonder if Ontario is next.

Just got my booster shot. It literally took less than five seconds.
You know what else takes less than five seconds? Putting on a mask.
You know what else takes less than five seconds? Making sure your nose is under your mask.
You know what else takes less than five seconds? Choosing good citizenship over partisan politics and deciding to get vaccinated.
We can do this.

And to reaffirm, this is NOT about politics. If you see it that way, you have fallen into the trap.

^ You guys must have gotten lucky. They made me fill out paperwork before I could get a booster shot.

What is this "snow" of which you all speak??
"Well my son, life is like a beanstalk, isn't it?"--Dalai Lama
The closest think to snow I've seen in 45 years or so was Christmas 1987 in Miami. It was 17F with the windchill. My car was blanketed in frost. I mean it was white with frost.
Got ours last weekend and it took about half an hour. Had to fill out a minimal amount of paperwork, got jabbed, and then had to sit for about 25 minutes to make sure we didn't have bad reactions.
One of the nurses was the singer from a band I played with in high school. I had not seen her since 1984.
I had some fatigue over the next day or so, but my wife had to take a day off from work due to fever, aches, and painfully swollen lymph nodes. She didn't sleep well for 3 nights.

I was lucky - had zero reaction from the first 2 jabs, or from the booster. My wife was the same.
Each time, I was told to wait 15 minutes - but got impatient after 2 or 3 mins and just left.
Regards,
Duncan
My wife is now not too sure if she wants any additional boosters, but I'm sure after the memory of this reaction fades a bit that won't be a problem. We're fortunate that our employer offers special time off for anything related to covid - vaccination appointments, illness - which does not impact our "earned time" (vacation and illness).
Really kinda hoping we could be seeing the end of this pandemic over the next few months anyway, but who knows.
I was surprised to be asked to stay for 25 minutes. Previous jabs were only 15 minutes.
My only reactions have been sore arm at the injection site, a mild amount of fatigue/drowsiness for a day or so, and muscle tension in my shoulders and neck resulting in a headache. Nothing a couple of Advil couldn't handle.

This one gave me (an internal) chuckle. My friend called me to tell this story. His girlfriend was having Christmas Dinner for 12. Mostly her children and grandchildren. All had planned to spend the weekend there....rooms were prepared, the RV was set up and plugged in. Food was bought / prepared for 12 for three days. At 1PM it started snowing. The kids (30's - 40's) freaked out, pack their bags and kids and left....One lived 10 miles away....one lived in Portland 120 miles away.
5PM...Dinner is served....for 2.....all kids congratulated themselves for getting home.....total snowfall? 2"
My buddy's girlfriend is not a favorite of mine.....petty, self indulgent & superficial....and her children are just like her. Needless to say, she's having a fit! My friend is calling me I think for some consolation / relief. He called me again Sunday and recalled the whole event a second time......and asked me if it was possible to freeze a 12lb HaM!
Geezer qualifier - Friend is 82....girlfriend is 77.

Our booster yesterday knocked my wife out. She's up between 7 and 8 everyday but just got up at 1. Fever, temperature. Just like my two previous shots, the boost did nothing. My arm is very slightly sore.
