Portnoy's take on the new Neal Morse Band concept album

Seems like Mike Portnoy likes the new Neal Morse Band concept Album...I hope he is right on target

    Per Mike:

    OMG...I am BLOWN AWAY.... 😵
I know I've been posting teases for months throughout the making of this album, but I just spent the last 1hr & 50mins listening to the completely finished, final mastered new Neal Morse Band double concept album in its entirety and I am completely FLOORED...

By the time I was rounding the album's grand finale, the goosebumps were so overwhelming I actually uncontrollably wept like a baby!!! (I swear.....)

In my 30+ year career, I consider myself to have made 2 masterpiece concept albums: Dream Theater's Scenes From A Memory & Transatlantic's The Whirlwind...

Ladies & Gentlemen, In my opinion, we have ABSOLUTELY TOPPED them both! THIS is THE ALBUM of mine (& Neal's) careers...it's is so monumentally EPIC and perfect in every way....

I will be so bold as to put my balls on the table and say I think this album can even sit side by side with The Who's Tommy & Quadrophenia, Genesis' The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and Pink Floyd's The Wall...

    Yes, I said it!!! : )

Thank you to Neal Morse, Randy George, Eric Gillette & Bill Hubauer for the honor of writing and performing such incredible music with you and to Jerry Guidroz and Rich Mouser for making it sound so amazing...

The official Press Release with more info on this incredible album, as well as US & European Tour Dates, is COMING THIS WEEK!!! So stay tuned for more info....

    WOW.....

I'll give you one guess as to what the concept is about. One should be all you need.

I dont get it. Is he blown away by himself?

If Mike Portnoy says that Mike Portnoy is great. Ill take his word for it.

    So weird.

I don't think he's blown away by his own performance but by Neal's songwriting and by the band's performance as a whole.
But I agree that there maybe some overhype here, I'll see for myself, but let's just say MP's comments have stirred my curiosity.

I think there might be a slight teaspoon of overhype here but just a little. Not much. Just a bit.

I get completely turned off by stuff like this.

OK right, it's total overhype and I don't believe any of it!
What I mean is that the fact that this album has the ambition to sit side by side with these classics or that someone like MP believes it does, could be an indication that this new album will actually be pretty strong.
So even if I don't believe the hype, I'll definitely check out the album when it comes out.

This reminds me of the time when Spock's Beard had just recorded Snow and Mike Portnoy was raving about it. I wonder if this album can sit side by side with Snow?

I love Snow but wouldn't think of comparing it to the classics mentioned. If the new one is as good as Snow it would be enough for me.

I dunno, I think Snow has less filler than The Wall & Lamb and the melodies are just as strong if not better than anything on those two albums. The Lamb in particular lacks a strong 'finale' and Snow's 'Wind in my Back' is a great song. Obviously they are more iconic albums but that's because Genesis and Floyd where well known 'global' artists.

Looking forward to this new album!

It's the greatest epic until the next epic comes along. I'm glad he's so blown away by this.

All Morse makes is epic's. At some point you would think he would put out an album of just songs.

The Mod Room? Isn't it the Mod Club? Perhaps another venue entirely.
