Thread: Portnoy's take on the new Neal Morse Band concept album

Probably the best way to assure a harsh assessment of an unheard, unreleased album is to promote it with overblown manic hyperbole and compare it to three of the greatest classics in rock music...yeah, that should work well. No thanks.

So true. Especially when it's from people with a long, established track record of NOT making albums comparable with the greatest classics in rock history.

I think that this album will be recorded. I will guess no further than that.

You obviously know very little of NM! He's released numerous albums of 'just songs'!

In my 30+ year career, I consider myself to have made 2 masterpiece concept albums: Dream Theater's Scenes From A Memory & Transatlantic's The Whirlwind...
Well, if it's better than The Whirlwind that would be good.

It would have to be brilliant to top The Whirlwind!

almost 2 hours of new material will be alot to take in all at once. i don't have the SB Snow album yet,
but i bought both Testimony CD's back in January and even though i listen to them once or twice a month,
i'm still in the process of grasping the entire concept. of course being an atheist is not making it any easier.

Hmmm… this date falls on the Saturday during the NAMM show. This could be good or bad for attendance. It could be good for guest appearances...

Wow a Wed night! In January! I am so there! What a way to spend a crappy part of the year. I dont care if the new album isn't as great as MP says it is. I've got to make this happen.

I do, because Quisp was my favorite cereal when I was a snotty little kid, but I never was a Quake fan...

Haven't seen or thought about that in ages...

I believe this album will be recorded by musicians. It will be the talk of those who talk about it.

My prediction: it will sound like a Neal Morse album.

Well, in his defense, none of those masterpieces have much in the line of balls on the table.
    And I'm ok with that.

I love Neal Morse and truly hope Mike Portnoy is right about this being the best album of his career. If so, it's going to be a monster!!!

Tickets purchased for the Cleveland show!!!
