I had not seen this video from a tune from Varmints before. Pretty cool too

Oh yeah, Wilco is cool too Saw them at Big Ears as well as Ms. Meredith.

Her videos are generally very quirky/clever/fun, just like the tunes

Nice! I really like FIBS and it would be cool to see her music performed live. Now if I can just find a way to make it to one of those...

Back in November, some friends of mine (a married couple) came to visit from out of town. While they were staying with me, one of them kept remarking on how much she liked the cover artwork for FIBS, so I put the LP on the turntable and the three of us listened to all of it. Afterward, her husband said that he was going to go buy some of Anna's music.

That video hurts my 61 yr old braims.

On the other hand the song reminds me of "Discipine". In a good way.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.

I can't watch that video either, but I like the music and I'm in for the DC show. Ticket gotten!

    Ticket gotten as well.

The way they had the ticket sales set up, with an exact time they went on sale, made me wonder if it would sell out instantly to early-bird apps and reseller bots. As far as I know, she's not well-known in the States, but she could have a huge dance-floor hit, be THE hot ticket for the next couple of months, and I'd never know about it. But I got the ticket, no problem.

I'd love to see her live show, but once again, Chicago is the closest location to me, and it's not close. I was there in late January for Heilung, and have no desire to return that soon.

All of today's touring artists think this country is hollowed out.

In all fairness Moe, Planet Lovetron isn't known for their extensive venue options.

Got tix for DC too because hell yes of COURSE I'm in. Video for Sawbones was easier to watch once I was certain my monitor wasn't actual burning out

Had no idea she won a Mercury Prize, but this is a lovely video. Can't wait to see her band again sometime soon.

Technically, they were shortlisted. Michael Kiwanuka won with Kiwanuka. The Prize often has one "artsy" album in its shortlist.

But, thanks, I'd not seen that video. The official video for "Paramour" is lovely, but it's also nice to see that the music can be played live!

Cool, thanks for clarifying on the prize Henry

Yeah...I mean there's a fair bit of synth backing work happening too but having seen them twice, they deliver the goods onstage. HUGE, infectious fun. I had tickets to see them once more in 2020 but for some random reason, the show got canceled. Crazy

    OMG SEE THEM!!!

I'm super envious...hopefully by later in 2022 a trip back across the pond will be doable (for them...or hell, for me if need be)

Ooooh...fun with odd time meters/syncopation and dance choreography, and fun camerawork

Dig the vocals from the Owen Pallett too...another great band/artist that seems to stay mostly below the radar around here.

I absolutely am endeavouring to go see them! Away from the traditional older prog acts, Anna Meredith is one of maybe 3 acts that I'm really excited by.

PS: The others are Firefly Burning and Young Adults.

Ha ha...that isn't a short list for me But yes....Ms. Meredith & her band are easily one of the most fun/poppy/quirky/intelligent/talented packages around these days. And I found her completely by accident @ Big Ears (kudos to Nogbadthebad in fact for suggesting we go check out her set) but became a pretty big fan in less than a few notes.

Ok, WTF is going on with the (avant) prog dance steps lately??? First Black Midi and now this...next thing you know the Alvin Ailey Dancers are going to be on America's Got Talent choreographing Tod Dockstader.

Wow, nice song, but - oy, the fast-cut-disorientation camerawork made my head hurt!

Which Young Adults? There are several bands of that name.

An obscure Russian duo (formerly trio): https://youngadults.bandcamp.com/album/4-3 I recommend "Esenin". They became "famous" for this...
