Agreed 131%
'Hertz' was going to be the "wildcard" of the batch for me going in (based on the description) but it ended up landing at least on par with the other two (which of course you know how much I dig those), and the vibe might be my favorite, which really says volumes. Essential if you like this music.
Mattias - I'm not sure if you are familiar with the It's War Boys label (Jim Welton) and his various aliases, but there is a connection between some of that extraordinary music and what you guys are doing at points. There is an active thread with about three people on it (Udi, Spacefreak, and me) so get your ass over there and check out some of that music if you get a chance. You too Batts and Walt, this is potential life-altering music imo.

I love the holy crap out of that album. There isn't a NM CD that isn't at least great but that one really hits all the right notes for me. Glad you've jumped on the Necrobandwagon, Frankie!! I kind of figured you would

Yeah man. One night I was a bit out there , and I just threw on the s/t on Spotify with headphones (I think that's all that was listed perhaps), and I was completely absorbed and entranced from the first 20 seconds. Like all great music, the 'Monks invite the listener into their sonic world - like holding put their hand and saying "Come here and follow me - its OK - trust me..." (sorry to sound corny but its how I feel with this), and once the listener lets go of all inhibitions and just goes with it, its quite a unique and beautiful journey, albeit it can get dark at times creating some anxiety and apprehension (which of course is the plan along). The (occasional) techno vibe is usually not my cuppa, but guess what - it is now - at least the way they do it!
Also, I appreciate the construction of this music immensely from a color and textural standpoint. But sometimes texture on its own is not enough to retain a listeners interest, but what this band also offers is really compelling melodic and harmonic material. It just werkz as a whole, finely crafted things of beauty. I also sense an artistic freedom that allows these guys to basically explore just about any territory they want - like randomly pointing to some arbitrary point on some fictional music map and saying "OK, let's go here now"; there are no worries about not working within some specific pre-conceived parameters because of the listeners expectations, or to try and fit the mould of what is written in the band bio paragraph. This is the way music creation should be imo.
Truly progressive, at least to my ears. One of the best discoveries in years for me personally. I know Ian B also feels quite similar. Sorry for the hyperbole. They are actually quite average. This is not what I paid for. This isn't what I paid for.
( on the last bit)
Yeah...I agree. I love the adventurous spirit of the music and the willingness to mix it up. Plus, when they get heavy they are like black holes
