Laurence Vanay - La Petite Fenętre - Official release and about time

Galaxies and Evening colors have been favorites of mine, finally this one comes out.

    from wayside...

Beautiful deluxe CD edition of this mega French rarity. I've long heard of this, but never actually heard it until now. Mastered from the original stereo tapes, this is a limited edition of only 300 copies and includes a 24 page booklet with rare photos and Jacqueline's story, as well as many bonus tracks.

I got these as well -- hadn't heard any of them before, to be honest. Really cool stuff!
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Also, Ephemeral Sun: it's a thing and we like making things that might be your thing: https://ephemeralsun.bandcamp.com

Really looking forward to checking both of these out. Les soleils de la vie has also been reissued!

Checking it out right now on YT. Galaxies, that is. Magical! I will have to buy these before they are gone.

Does anyone have the two new Vanays? I have now listened to Galaxies and Evening Colors several times on YouTube. There is enough magic on both of them that they are definitely worthwhile purchases. Are the new ones of similar quality? They very brief snippets posted by Jacqueline herself don't really give enough of a feel for the overall vibe and quality.

Same for me... I've never heard about Laurence Vanay until I read this post. Went to YT to check her two first albums and found them so good that I immediately bought them. How could I have missed this artist for so long ? Now I'm wondering about the "new" re-issues: are they of similar quality ? More song-oriented or instrumental ?

I have 'La Petite Fenetre' and like it just fine. It's instrumental for the most part, and very much in line with the sound of the others (both in terms of composition and production quality).

I've been screaming from the mountain tops about those two albums for years and years (mainly through my various blogs). But it's tough to get the message out sometimes I was in touch with Ms. Thibault for a long time, and ultimately was successful in directing her to Lion Productions in Chicago via a friend (who did all the heavy lifting - I just pointed).

I still haven't heard the other two either, beyond snippets. But I'm buying them no matter what. On both CD and LP in this case.

Evening colors is the only one not getting a vinyl release at this time. Per an e mail from the label, these all sound so good.

It got two original releases. A french one by Galloway in 1975 (under the name Gate Way and not Vanay) and an italian one by Creazioni Artistiche Musicali (that specialised in releasing soundtracks) in 1977 with a different cover. A vinyl reissue by Lion was done in 2014, with the Galloway cover.

The unreleased albums of the times were "Les Soleils de la vie" (intended to be the follow-up to "Evening Colours") and "La Petite Fenętre".

FWIW I first heard of Vanay/Thibault from your CDRWL blog. Glad to hear you helped make them happen. I just ordered the first two from the Wayside sale yesterday. I look forward to receiving them and giving them some real attention with the full hi-fi setup, as opposed to youtube.

Wayside order arrived the other day. I'll say that Galaxies has to be the most beautiful replica mini-LP sleeve that I (now) own. The cover itself is a winner and it is really gorgeous in the mini format. Vibrant colors, perfect glossy sheen, etc. I haven't listened to it in full but would be worth it for the cover alone.
