I saw Alice Cooper last night at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo MI. This was the first night of his “Spend The Night With Alice Cooper” summer / fall tour and it was a blast. I have seen Alice quite a few times over the years and he never disappoints. He may be getting old, but he is still the king of theatrical rock n roll and as always has a fantastic band. He has kept himself in great physical shape and his voice was never the greatest anyway and most of his range is still there. The set list emphasized the oldies. I like a lot of his newer stuff and would like to have heard some of it, but what he played was all great. He let his band stretch out instrumentally often during the show with guitarist Nita Strauss particularly standing out. “Halo Of Flies” was a highlight with Alice acting as conductor and the band totally kicking ass. He had the full production with pyro, boa constrictor, giant Frankenstein, dancers, guillotine, and even Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton for the encore of elected. He also did a tribute to fallen friends covering songs by The Who (Keith Moon), Hendrix, Bowie and Lemmy. Strauss did her best Hendrix impression and both the Bowie and Motorhead tributes totally kicked ass. There was no opening act and his set was close to two hours. If you are into Alice and this tour is coming your way I highly recommend it. Here is the set list:
