I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
Bummer......he was a very very big part of Blue Oyster Cult back in the day.
My only connection with him was through Pavlov's Dog. He co-produced their first two albums.
Just saw this over on Classic Rock. Sandy's responsible for BOC as we know them. RIP!
Rest in peace, Sandy.
We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973
He was responsible for their mysterious and criptic lyrics and image in the 70s and early 80s.
Too bad. Crappy ending. Great lyricist for BOC. Enjoyed his work. Didn't know he produced Heaven and Hell era Sabbath. RIP Sandy.

"MARKLAR!"
Another big loss. Big BOC fan and Sandy did a lot for early BOC. RIP Sandy.
He was their manager, not their producer, during the Dio era. Martin Birch produced those two Sabbath albums during that period. Pearlman was sort of an odd choice of managers for Sabbath, and I've never quite understood why they left him and went with Don Arden, of all people, afterward (the Born Again era in 1983-84).
Pearlman had a lot of interesting ideas for BOC, and it's a shame that his ultimate creation, Imaginos, was never fully realized.
Jeff - Thanks for posting that interview. I have never seen it before and really enjoyed it.
Yeah I remember the name Martin Birch now. I thought the article said produced though.
Honestly, as big a BOC fan as I am, I never cared for Imaginos. I just never sat well with me.
Fortunately I've seen the band well over 20 times since 1979 through all those incarnations. Would've been sooner if I was a little older as I prefer the older material.

"MARKLAR!"
If the original concept had come to fruition it would have covered about 3 CD’s worth of music which would have included a lot of tunes that were scattered through many of B.O.C’s other albums. It ended up as a single CD with a minimum of input from Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma. I have seen the expanded song list posted somewhere on the Internet before, but will have to search around to see if I can find it.
Here is a link to the Wikipedia page for Imaginos. It sums things up pretty well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imaginos
I found it. This is what the Imaginos trilogy was supposed to contain:
Act One: The Imaginos album we're familiar with.
The album that was released, although the tracks were in a different order.
Act Two: Bombs over Germany:
Workshop Of The Telescopes
The Girl That Love Made Blind *
ME 262
The Red And The Black
Cities On Flame **
Shadow Of California
Half-Life Time +
Veteran Of The Psychic Wars ++
Career Of Evil ++
Act Three: The Mutant Reformation:
Take Me Away ++
The Vigil ++
ETI
R. U. Ready 2 Rock
Heavy Metal
Flaming Telepaths
Gil Blanco County *
Redeemed
* Left off the original Imaginos album
** "Motor City is Burning" version -- based somewhat on the MC5 song
+ Very few have heard this one
++ Non-Pearlman songs because I never plan to write another with him and these tunes kind of fit into the story.
