MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER..ANY THOUGHTS OR HAVE SEEN THEM LIVE?

Just got a notice from a local venue that advance tickets are available for the 2016 Christmas Tour..Did a little research and it says they have 2 different touring ensembles (Red & Blue ! ) Not much other info such as members, instruments, etc..
Have seen Trans Siberian twice, are the shows similar ?

Although I have not seen them live I am familiar with some of their stuff. I much prefer TSO myself. Steamroller is more “new-age” oriented and not as much rock. I guess it could be considered a bit proggy in places, but seems more geared to the middle of the road to my ears.

I never cared for their Christmas tunes. Before bandleader/drummer/arranger Chip Davis first dove into that cash mountain back in the '80s, he composed original music.

The Fresh Aire albums up through V are all good, if you like that sound.

Agree about Fresh Aire, the early years. Audiophile recordings, new age stuff.
I had some vinyl for stereo demo's.
Saw them as Manheim Steamroller for a holiday show in the early 90's.
Much fromage, too precious for me.
There were some Very Excited Fans in the audience who thought very highly of the show.
    Me, not so much.

Nostalgia, you know, ain't what it used to be. Furthermore, they tells me, it never was.

    Their genre is "Old Age."

I suppose I shall have to post their origin story:
