I dig it when I'm in the mood for something ProjeKcty.

I don't spin it on the regular but I dig it quite a bunch. There is some really, really hip forward-thinking shit on there. A big winner imo.

Its better than the studio TCoL (coz all TCoL tunz were better live and on Heavy ConstruKction).

Certain a more focused projeKcty effort. Thumbs up in Casa MudShark

Agreed. The last good Crimson album to my ears.

Indeed, H&E should have been the new KC album. I loved the ProjecKcts but was disappointed that they didn't continue with that sound, instead trying to revive the Red and Discipline eras.

The best is P3 Alexandra, VA 2003. Sick Belew on the Crim tour and the rest of the band went on without him.

Yes. A full disc of improvs. Rest of the set is about the same. I prefer everything from the '03 tour anyway. Saw 'me both, too.

For some reason I've never gotten round to buying this one.

Every time there's a ProjeKct thread on this site, for at least the past five years, I mention this one. Come on, man. What are you waiting for?

Just for the record, the TCoL compositions are all head crushers. The issue is the TCoL tunez were not 'played in' on the road before recording, IMO.

Compare that to TPtB where we have multi-leg excursions/tours where the material was road tested.

I don't recall at the moment what shows they were from, but both the Frakctured and LTIA 4 w/ vocal coda from Heavy ConstruKction still send shivers down my spine.

I have seen at least one show in NYC of every Krim outing since Thrak tour (and usually more than one). I still believe that the Level 5 tour (just after 9/11) was the best Krim tour since Discipline.

I'd like TCOL a lot more with production quality more along the lines of HWWYHTBHW and TPTB

Heh. I was at that show. It certainly was special for that reason.

Yes...p@t managed to convince RF after the TCoL tour to allow him to set up his kit with some acoustic drums/percussion.

I think he used a real snare in 2003, which made all the difference (at least to my ears). TCoL also has some weird compression on it, but fuck it, I still like it a lot from time to time. Wanna know how good it is? Listen to my wife's music for about 2 hours, and then put on TCoL - it'll sound better than Close to the Fudge and Sgt. Pepper combined.

I think this is a pic from '03, and if it's not, it gives you a good idea of Mastelotto's set up:

    image.jpg

Regular kit with a lot of electronics. On the gear page of his website, he explains that he no longer tours with a kit. He borrows or loans whatever he can get. It's all the electronics and stuff that he carts around on tour.

Too much of a good thing on TCoL? The CD has no acoustics or air IMO. Heavy Construkction is my "go to" TCoL. But we have all talked about this before. Project X has bones but irritates with it's patchiness. Rarely play it.

I have a hard time listening to TCoL in one go because of the "airless" quality. I prefer the versions on the Level 5 and Happy... EPs.
