Seems weird to exclude solo artists on this basis. That would seem to disqualify band membership that didn't occur prior to 1975 as well. For example, the current version of Yes just formed last year. The one before that formed only couple of years earlier, and so on. Doesn't seem weird to me at all. I think you are reading too much into it. A band is a band is a band with a name regardless of who is or isn't in it now or then. It has a very specific start point under a specific name i.e. Status Quo started performing & recording as Status Quo on known given dates, regardless of what they were called before that, or who the members were then or earlier or now.
But you could start your own thread called,"Solo artists you've seen live..." But why I don't want solo artists is because of questions like this: e.g. how do you qualify it date wise? By when they were born perhaps? When they started performing? And that alone is a nightmare to qualify, does that parish centre gig for charity aged 15 count? Or the school dance they played and got payed for aged 17? Or the bands they played in as sessions musicians before going solo? You can see the problem I hope

Having been born in 1977, my list is woefully short, but I seem to have a couple that haven't been mentioned yet (Colosseum, Comus, Goblin + the three Finnish ones).
