    The Paul Gilbert headphone thread

I was checking out some Racer X & other Paul Gilbert vids on YouTube, and saw he was wearing headphones in every vid. At first, I thought it was so he could hear the click, but that's not it. He's losing his hearing. Join the club, Paul!

Anyhoo, I "enjoyed" reading the article, maybe you will, too.

The guy is certainly one of the most kick ass rock players. He's sorta turned those big goofy headphones into a fashion statement.

I read about Paul's condition a wee while ago and was impressed by his determination not to quit and by the message he was putting out there about safeguarding what hearing we have left.

I got a real scare a few years back after seeing an AC/DC tribute band - they were way too loud for the club venue and my ears rang so badly for the next 48 hours that I genuinely thought I'd I'd blown my hearing for good. Fortunately for me it turned out that I was suffering from blocked sinuses, having been soaked in the rain travelling to the gig.

But it gave me a big enough fright that I went out and bought earplugs designed for gigs. The plugs are excellent, dialling down the volume but keeping the clarity, and it's great to still be able to go to gigs and not come out with ringing ears.

Not sure PG's headphone look would necessarily suit Brian Johnson though.....
