R.I.P
A great player.
Damn. He was one of my favorites outside the prog arena. His work with Steve Smith is stunning.
Bernie Worrell on organ, and Jack bruce on piano & vocals.
Damn. Loved what he did with Bucket o' Bernie Brains and Talking Heads...RIP.
-=Will you stand by me against the cold night, or are you afraid of the ice?=-
Damn. Never really followed the guy, but he had a whole lot going on at the intersection between R&B and jazz.
A great player indeed. RIP.

Another great gone. Loved his classically trained keyboard work, especially with Funkadelic and Parliament.

RIP. He was one of a kind.
This makes me really sad. Worrell showed up on a lot of things that I have loved over the years (his work with Jack Bruce being foremost I suppose), and although I can't say that I followed his career closely, to see his name on an album's credits usually means that there's good music to be heard within.
As far as his work with Bruce, what he did on "Smiles and Grins" from Bruce's 50th Birthday concert . . . . . . . in my book that moment alone sends chills down my spine and makes Worrell unforgettable.
RIP
Hired on to work for Mr. Bill Cox, a-fixin' lawn mowers and what-not, since 1964.

Happy with what I have to be happy with.
Damn. The year just keeps getting worse. And on a more personal note, Five Man Electrical Band bassist (anyone remember "Signs," back in the early '70s?) Brian Rading passed away two weeks ago at the age of 69, from throat cancer. I spent many, many nights onstage and days/nights in the studio with Brian, a relatively simple player but an absolutely rock solid anchor upon whom you could always depend. A funny, warm and insightful guy, we hadn't seen each other much in the past few years, but that doesn't mean his loss hurts any less. The first of what will, no doubt, be the start of local musicians with whom I've played over the years who will begin to disappear from this mortal coil, Brian was a thoroughly unique human being ... but one who always had time for others, should the need arise.
RIP Brian. We loved ya then, we'll miss you now. And RIP Bernie - I didn't know him, but i sure knew his work.
RIP Bernie. Wonderful player. Thank you.

Sad to hear this. We've lost a lot of greats lately. Last time I seen Bernie was 2013 Moogfest. The Keith Emerson Band and The Bernie Worrell Band played that night. A great night of excellent music.
If my memory is correct, I really enjoyed Bernie's playing on Jerry Harrison's solo album.
