They be heavy!

And galloping, don't forget the galloping.
I like the galloping.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

John Petrucci from Dream Theater later took it to a new level.
Watch at the 1:00 minute mark...
Yeah, Iron Maiden made a complete career out of cloning Sabbaths: Children of the Grave
Galloping 16th note triplets, I, VI, VII progression................not that there's anything wrong with that.
(Actually listening to some Maiden right now)
Don't forget repeating the title of the song or a single phrase over and over for the chorus. That is, as I've been told, very common in folk music and shanties.
Best track EVER?
The Trooper! Anyone wants to argue with that, I'll run them through!
I like Trooper Ale

Actually, I think they got the gallop more from UFO. Besides Genesis and Yes, 'Arry is known to be a big fan of UFO, and copied his stage clothes from Pete Way. UFO used it on songs like Lights Out, for instance.
And let's not forget the harmony guitars, which 'Arry took from Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash (that's how I got into Lizzy and Ash, was seeing them mentioned in Iron Maiden interviews).
One foot on the monitors, actually, but point taken.
I saw a documentary on Maiden once where they were talking about how when Bruce Dickinson first joined the band they were still playing a lot of smaller venues. Bruce and 'Arry of course both like to be at the front of the stage, hanging off the edge of the stage, practically. And in the early days, there apparently, wasn't enough room at the front for both of them. Bruce would be at the front, and 'Arry would swing his bass around so that the neck shoved Bruce aside and say, "Pardon me, mate" and assume his place up there with one foot on the monitor. I don't imagine they ever got into a shoving match, as such, but I get the impression they had to have a talk about it.
Fortunately for them, Maiden quickly became big enough where they could have stages large enough for the both of them to be up there without getting in each other's way.
Oh and one more thing:
Dave Murray and Adrian Smith standing together in some sort dual guitar hero pose when playing the harmony guitar lines. Or better still, Dave and Adrian running up the staircases on either side of the drum riser to play the harmony guitar lines at the end of Hallowed By Thy Name.
And then there's Bruce hoisting Dave up on his shoulders, which I imagine he probably doesn't do much of anymore.
Why are you sorry? I stated I like Trooper Ale, I don't make Trooper Ale.Originally Posted by moecurlythanu

Or even better, when all 4 stand and play together, Harris, Murray, Smith, Gers - that's a photo I've taken a few times at IM gigs.
