Your fav prog song of a well-known band feat. musician from another well-known band?

My favourite is Jon Anderson-voiced Prince Rupert Awakes (Lizard, 1970) by King Crimson.

An outwordly song with a grandiose Mellotron and Jon's voice which is quite amazing and better than on Yes' Time And A Word the album relased in the same year.

Hmm, probably a few I can think of.

I really like the live version of Kate Bush singing "Running Up That Hill" with Dave Gilmour on lead guitar on The Secret Policeman's Third Ball.

My first thought is RPWL - Roses. Not sure how well known RPWL is, or even how well known Ray Wilson is, but Ray was in Genesis for one album. Maybe that counts
Regardless, I think it is one of the best vocal performances of the last two decades.

Ice by Camel featuring Kit Watkins (ex-Happy The Man).

Maybe not my favorite, but some good ones.

Alberto Piras from Deus ex Machina on vocals, on the D.F.A. song "Esperanto".

Robert Fripp on "The Emperor in His War Room" by VDGG.

Not sure this qualifies for the OP's intention. I believe he means musicians that were not a member of the band. Watkins was a member of Camel at the time..

Not all prog, but off the top of my head...

Jimmy Page on Roy Harper's "Same Old Rock"
Roy Harper on Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar"
Rick Wakeman on Cat Steven's "Morning Has Broken"
Peter Gabriel on Cat Steven's "Katmandu"
Eric Clapton on the Beatles "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

If it does count then I'd nominate any of the 1976 BBC recordings of National Health with Bill Bruford on drums.

Wasn't Bruford an original member of National Health?

He was the first drummer to perform live with them. I've read where Dave Stewart referred to him as a temporary member though.

Van der Graaf Generator - A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers (featuring Robert Fripp - not as big a contribution as on The Emperor in His War Room, but I prefer it as a track)
Wigwam - Lost Without a Trace (featuring Jukka Tolonen of Tasavallan Presidentti on acoustic guitar)
Pekka Pohjola - Matemaatikon lentonäytös (featuring Mike Oldfield on guitar - not a member of a band though, so maybe this doesn't count)

Great creative thinking for threads these days, I would like to suggest:

Your fav prog song of a well-known prog. or space-rock band, that features 2 or more musicians from another lesser-known rock or jazz band, that had a minor hit with a song in either Europe or the US, that their grandmother sang to them when she arrived home from working at a bakery on Tuesdays....

    That Magenta w/Annie Haslam thing.
A stretch, but the reciprocal "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"/"Badge" thing.

Complete killer! Fabulous beyond words, this one.

Dave Stewart's entire input on Khan's Space Shanty was a guest appearance.

Fred Frith on The Muffins' "Vanity, Vanity".

    Franco Battiato on Jumbo's "Gil".

    And so many more...
