I don't mind watching a campy B-movie once in a while. I recall watching one while doing magic mushrooms. That was fun.

Heres another BW noir thriller copied on DVD from TCM I'm finally getting around to watching on vacation. Storm Fear from 1955. This one was a winner. Somewhat reminiscent of The Deseperate Hours , Bogart's home invasion flic. This was produced and directed and starred in by Cornell Wilde . Similar to John Payne , he opted in his later carreer to make his own independent movies as age and TV dried up the work well. The acting is great , chartors fleshed out , plot elements quite racy for its time. Wasn't really sure where the film would end up , a sign of a good one. Dan Duryea , Lee Grant and Dennise Weaver co-star. Elmer Bernstien score. I don't think this one is easly available. Might not be on DVD but watch for it on TCM. Well worth the time.
On Edit , Quick word on plot. Bank robbers burst in on mountain cabin home of writer with wife and child. More to this one than a straight forward home invasion story. Well written , acted , directed. See it if you have the chance.
^^ I've never seen it.

Niether did I till last night. Over the years I have monitored TCM and if something looks interesting , off the beaten track , with something that makes it stand out , like cast , director ,whatever I would set the dvd recorder to capture it. It does take me a long time to get to them sometimes. This one goes back to the Robert Osborne days. Its allways a thrill to see something from that era I've never seen before that's really good. Theres a lot of them out there. Long live TCM!
So I watched Steamboat Bill Jr last night. Good, funny movie. I didn't realize going in this was the picture that has that iconic gag where the front of the house collapses, and he happens to be standing in just the right place to go through the window instead of getting squashed. I'd seen in many places in other contexts, but not in the original. Good fun picture. Also love the house landing on him (there's no floor, apparently, just walls and celiing, and he opens the door to get out, and then it collapses immediately afterward.
Had fun watching that. Wish I had someone to watch some of these movies with, though.

I looked at the TCM lineup tonight and wasn't entranced. We went to Prime Video and rented Horror of Dracula for ninety-nine cents.

Speaking of TCM , Comcast is my cable provider in Florida. In a money grab they moved TCM to the "sports" package and want 10 bucks extra a month for it. I still have TCM in NY so I guess I can use the streaming thingy, but fu*k those greedy Sh*tbags at Comcast. Dushe pri*ks bastards. Die in HELL!

A great movie I’ve never seen: for the win, Citizen Caine!
I know, it’s crazy.
They did that to us up here in Boston, too. Lousy bums! She-who-must-be-obeyed called and complained as we are in the 6th month of a 2-year contract. The fine print say they can change the price for taxes, fees, and equipment but nothing is said about line-up. When Comcast, who said they've received other complaints about this, wouldn't budge, she filed a complaint with the attorney general of Massachusetts. Amazingly, the AG's office called and asked for the particulars. I've got to hand it to her, as I'm the one who watches TCM, not my wife, but now it's the principle. Sic 'em, Linda!

Comcast called yesterday to say they would give us TCM back at no charge for 1 year starting yesterday. We have about 15 months left on our contract, but Linda took it, figuring an 80% victory is almost as good. Turned on TCM this morning and saw Joan Blondell in 1932's Three on a Match. I am home!
