That being said (written), I rarely, if ever, watch love stories.

I should clarify. I'll watch certain actors no matter the genre. My favorite movie is just as much a love story as action movie.

I never hesitate to put on a Bette Davis or Joan Crawford love story. "Now Voyager" was on recently (although I didn't watch it). Davis is just so damned good in everything she played. I see "All about Eve" was also just on, too. Another magnificent performance.

Crawford may have been a terrible human being, but there's a certain authenticity in each of her roles. Even in the B-movies she suffered through during her later years (Davis, too, for that matter). She always brought dignity and humanity to every performance.

I haven't seen this movie in a long time! I'm worried it won't hold up for me, but now I think I have to give it a chance, so I'm going to record it.

BTW, last week TCM had an interesting day where they showed a bunch of George Pal movies. One I'd never seen but always meant to was The 7 Faces of Dr. Lao. So I finally saw it. Some interesting parts, some freaky parts, some hokey parts. I'm glad I finally got to see it. That talking snake was the freakiest part, also Medusa, and Pan. Was Pan actually Tony Randall? He moved around so fast and in the dark that it was hard to tell, but I guess it must have been.

What's not to like? Given some of the greats in it, I've always felt it could have been funnier. Also, it's a really long movie; the original cut was 3½ hours! The premiere was 3 hours 12 minutes, the theatrical cut, 2 hours 41 minutes, and the restored cut is 3 hours 17 minutes.

I'm not a huge Hepburn fan, but I think she's great in The African Queen. I don't really go for the Hepburn/Tracy films, and while I like Cary Grant I don't actually like Bringing Up Baby much. But there are probably some she's done that I haven't seen which I might like better.
