(It's the best I could do at converting the old zappa.com memorial candle shockwave flash file.)

Here's a different one that'll have to suffice:

    I've seen far worse, actually.

"Ain't Got No Heart" was posted today. Happy to see a few new (for the 88 band) tunes in the setlist, especially The Beatles stuff, Sharleena, and Peaches.

And just in case anyone was concerned that the Zappa fils might have grown up, the two tracks that Dweezil played on at this show have been replaced by versions from another show without him. This is reportedly at Dweezil's insistence, not Ahmet's. Supposedly.
Get ratty!! New album RATS' ALLEY overwhelmingly available!

It may be because of Dweezil's self criticism...at least, I hope it is for that reason rather than others.

I have this show (as well as most of the 88 tour) and after listening to Dweeziil's Stairway solo last night, I can believe that he really does not want this released. It's mediocre at best. Hell, he was only 19 years old at that time

Good article. I wish he'd mixed the Hammersmith Odeon set, I remember the "Tiny Lites" that they released on one of the Birthday Bundles sounded better than the 3 CD set.

Absolutely. Dunno why some feel the need to get cynical. I got the Crux of the Biscuit, after grabbing the other Project/Object releases, and for someone who loves process, they've all been pretty darn revelatory. Even the Ruben & the Jets P/O set.

Thoroughly enjoying the new 88 release! Seems kind of strange that they put the two songs from other shows on there, but I'll take it. Hoping for more official releases from this band.

The reason is that those last two songs featured a solo by then-18-years-old Dweezil that did'nt like his performances, so they had to use the same songs from another concert. However, it's just the encores, I can live with it

The new 1988 CD is very fine indeed !

    In the pipeline...

    200 Motels boxset
    Bongo Fury boxset
    A synclavier release
Five film projects (concerts, The rage and the fury)

There have been allusions to a Fillmore '71 release.

    Yow!

But didn't Travers reveal that a Wazoo project/object was in the works years ago?

At the time, he referred to it as a possibility, in terms of available material, but not yet "in the works".

I'd pencil in Waka/Wazoo for next year (50th anniversary).
