Saw Alex Winter on Jimmy Kimmel tonight talking about Zappa.

He alleges he got into the entire vault and there's some knotty bits in there.

I do wanna see this. I do think Alex Winter did a good job with this.

Saw him on Kimmel, too. The official trailer doesn't really tell/show you much about what to expect, but I'm in...

IS this getting a general release?
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

Hey Uncle - I pledged $50 to the Project. Any idea when backers should be able to watch/download the doc? Am I wrong, or are they going to be sending out info about that any day now?

Also, can you send a link to this sundtrack? I have the password, just not sure about the location.

    Thanks!

    US Theatrical release : 11/23 ; VOD : 11/27.
If applicable at this pledge level, you should have received an e-mail from the Winter people with a personal mediafire link to this soundtrack, valid only once (it is not located with the other downloads on the Kickstarter website).

Ah ok. Glad something will come out of it, hopefully this stuff will make the transition. Thanks.

"The Duke" and maybe the 1968 studio tracks are the only things that I'm eager to hear on that list.

New book on Frank Zappa by Co de Kloet: Frank & Co.

  16. #341
In addition to the special edition sondtrack (CD, digital download) described above (post #326) and a book, some backers have received an EP which consists of :

    Side 1 :
    1. "The Full Impact" 1:00
    Interview excerpt- WRVR NYC, 1967

    2. Rawgah 3:32
    Recorded July 1966

    3. Watermelon In Easter Hay 5:21
Recorded November 17, 1981 at The Ritz, NYC

    Side 2 :
    1. Vault Of Imaginary Diseases 5:26
Recorded March 24, 1973 in San Diego, CA

    2. Brutality (Maniac Mix) 4:34
    Recorded circa 1985, Synclavier

This looks like a taster of forthcoming releases.

This is my Holy Grail of Zappa shows. First and best of all the times I saw FZ live. This segment, or at least part of it, has already leaked out--it appeared as a hidden Easter Egg on the zappa.com site when they were promoting the Imaginary Diseases release (although the actual CD was from a completely different tour).

I had a quick listen to these. If you like Ruben and the Jets, you will want to hear "Memories Of El Monte" which is a rare recording of Ray Collins live with FZ. Good recording too although FZ's voice is a bit distorted. "Oh, In The Sky" segues out of "Memories" although it would become a stand-alone piece in MOI shows after Ray left the group. "The Duke" is an early version of "Little House I Used To Live In" themes with a duet between FZ and Art Tripp similar to the one around five minutes into the BWS version, but not as good. The other tracks are self-explanatory with nothing very significant in the short 1968 tracks that I noticed.

Winter dixit : the DVD / Blu Ray (march 2021) " will have vault and movie outtake extras not available on the public release".

    It appears that

    Toronto (1:47)
Theme From Run Home Slow (2:26)
    The Little March (1:22)
    Oink (0:44)
    Randomonium (1:27)
    Humble & Naive (0:17)
    None Of The Above (2:02)

are not included in the 3CD soundtrack. The rest is, along with a handful of unreleased FZ tracks :

Call Any Vegetable Excerpts – Fillmore West, November 6, 1970 (4:24)
    Happy Together – Fillmore West, 1970 (1:04)
Apostrophe’ – Los Angeles, Rehearsal Hall, June 21, 1974 (6:08)
Dancin’ Fool – Saturday Night Live, October 21, 1978 (3:49)
The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing – The Pier, NYC, 1984 (3:06)

To bad it isn't in Dutch.
I might have asked it for a review.

    I got my goodies today.

1 CD of the exclusive soundtrack (same as digital release, cf post #326). The upcoming 3CD has some tracks from that.
1 vinyl EP (cf post #341)
1 book. Mostly pictures, lots of rarities (FZ's paintings, greeting cards, lyrics, scores for two early compositions : Dance for guitar, 1959 and Chaos #1, 1960, a Fluxus-like graphic score, ...). Great stuff !
