New Kilimanjaro Darkjazz-related project: The Thing with Five Eyes

For those that dig the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble / Mt. Fuju Doomjazz / etc., sound...I got this via email today:

    "All Hail The New Jazz...

We would like to introduce the new darkjazz project from Jason Kohnen, the composer and founder of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble and The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation.

After the split in 2013 Kohnen decided to carry on producing the mystical sounds he composed for TKDE under a new project name called The Thing With Five Eyes. A debut EP entitled 'Glory' was released in 2014. A 4 track EP reminiscent of the 'Here Be Dragons' era. Dark, mystical and hypnotic. His debut album will be appearing early 2017, and therefore we would like to introduce the new music to you!"

The blurb then goes on to talk about releases instead of albums, but I guess the above (2017 album) still holds sorta true. At any rate...I do dig the KDE stuff quite a bit and the track I've included here hits all the right notes as well.

    Happy listening!
    JB

I don't hear any kind of jazz in the music... not even traces of it

This is pure 100% post-rock - which is fine by me, but calling it "jazz" is misleading.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

Instrumentation - drums with brushes, upright bass - and probably the background of some of the players. But it does sound much more like the Twin Peaks soundtrack than any kind of jazz. Even the harmonic colors are not jazz-like - yet they could be, and it would have much the same feel and impact.

And we dangerously begin to approach the event horizon of "What is Jazz?"

After that vid in the first post the complete Glory EP was shown:

I don't know if this will be on my list. The music has a great atmosphere, but doesn't "go anyway", there's not a real story.
