    Surely The Man Who Sold the World is one of the darkest albums ever released - insanity, killing sprees, rape - what more could you want.

    Diamond Dogs is rather dystopian don't you think--it even has the song 1984 on it.

    Dark Side of the Moon is pretty dark, as is much of the Pink Floyd discography, as well as Genesis (prog era, Musical Box, Supper's Ready), the whole Pete Hammil - Van der Graaf catalog and a big chunk of the Jethro Tull (Passion Play specially). And if we include Black Sabbath as prog (and proto metal bands like Atomic Rooster and the Groundhogs) the list grows considerably.
