Yes, it's the same thing. The term "step" as in "half step" or "whole step" is really not uncommon based on my own experiences.

Funny with a small f. Though after listening to avant for a long time anything can go when it comes to notes, so in a way I found it twistedly appealing in a perverse way.
These videos make me feel like I could be a rock singer - I could at least start out this "good."
