Loved their singles...never bought an album !
Two UK shows close by so will ponder on attending one ?
Ozark Mountain Daredevils?
Compact Disk brought high fidelity to the masses and audiophiles will never forgive it for that
Big OMD fan right here. Love just about anything they released, though am partial to their late 70s early 80s output more than recent stuff. Saw them at the Paradise in Boston around 1980 and then again at the Paradise two years ago. They are just as good now as they were then. Favorite tune is probably "Electricity," though I do really like the two Joan of Arc numbers.

Looking forward to my day in court.
“english electric” ... just like BiG BiG TRAiN’s new one ... btw. that’s the name of an old english industrial manufacturer. produced two of the most intriguing aircraft ever, the “lightning” and the “canberra”. *plane geek modus switched off* always liked OMD and i applaud their return to their avant-electronic style of yore. will give this a listen. “the history of modern” (the last one) was good, too.
Anyone heard the live album from last year?

Longtime OMD fan. My fav era is Organisation through Dazzle Ships. But this doesn't mean that the band's "pop" peak between Junk Culture & Crush aren't terrific as well. It's just different.
The pop started going over the top with Pacific Age and continued into the "Andy" OMD albums. Sugar Tax has moments but Liberator pretty much blows. Universal however starts to bring things back on track and to my ears the comeback album History of Modern sounds like a logical progression from Universal despite the appearance of a couple throwback songs which would be at home on Junk Culture.
Hearing the snippet from the upcoming album probably reminds everyone of Dazzle Ships. I reserve judgement until I hear the entire album as to whether they are staying on the course that has already been charted or if we are looking at something truly experimental such as what was produced in the early-80s.
I found the book version of this at Amoeba last year and despite already owning the songs from iTunes, I couldn't resist. I highly recommend the hard copy, not only as a cool concert recording but as a collectable document that is worth owning.
Tour cancelled. Martin rushed to hospital before the end of their Toronto show tonight.
Here is word from their official forum.
