    Something different

Here is a song with traditional sound with modern alternative tone.
Should we try combine these things in prog music?

That sounds pretty neat, the only Thai bands I know are bodyslam and I think Potato (what a weird name for a Rick band lol). Thanks for something new for me to add to my arsenal of bands from Thailand.

It sounds like middle of the road R&B. There is a bit of ethnicity in the intro, but the rest is paint-by-numbers. As such, it bores me stiff.

If a prog band is looking for a crossover pop song, then maybe they could take a few notes. Surely there has to be more innovative R&B artists who would make a better study, though.

I find this a much more convincing fusion of South Asian sound and pop sensibilities...

I'm glad. I wish all of Dengue Fever's songs were as good. That soundtrack to the Masks video is cool too.

Trey Gunn did some cool proggy things incorporating Asian and Arabic rhythms.

And then there is the pop-oriented stuff Colin Bass did in Indonesia as his alter-ego Sabbah Habbas Mustapha.

The only Thai bands I know are Caravan (folk group, not that one. Their sound is very nice if Southeast Asian acoustic folk songs are your thing) and The Impossibles (funk-rock act, their Hot Pepper LP even got a North American release!).

    Janelle Monae comes to mind.
