Jazz Trombone Player Julian Priester Has Fallen On Hard Times

I have become aware that trombone master Julian Priester, who has played with, among others,Duke Ellington,John Coltrane,Max Roach,Sun Ra, and Herbie Hancock,is ill and suffering from serious kidney troubles, and is waiting for a possible kidney transplant.Since he can not tour, given his health problems, and since touring is the major source of income for Julian Priester,he has been forced to sell many of his belongings to raise money to live.

A fund raising site has been been established online for those who may want to take tangible steps to support Julian Priester. The site is linked, below.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Sad news. I read an interview with Chuck Rainey, who is coming back from a stroke. He said he learned early on of the importance of making sure he had health insurance, which has gotten him back on his feet.

Someone who posted(in another site) that Priester had no health insurance retracted that post, saying he wasn't sure if that was the case,so i deleted my comment about his lack of health insurance.

Julian Priester recently retired from the faculty of Cornish College of the Arts.Seems hard to believe that this institution wouldn't provide medical insurance of some sort to its faculty.

doesn't everyone now have healthcare in the US now?? Or has that wellfare thing still to be applied?

But if he was a teacher , he must've had one paid through work benefits, I suppose
Generally colleges a,nd Unies have those kind of benefits

If you mean health insurance, most estimates put those without it at between 40 and 45 million, or 1-in-7 Americans lacking even basic health insurance coverage. Welfare? It's socialism, and we can't have that!!

Not if he's a part-time faculty member, which I suspect he is.

Julian Priester has been a Professor at Cornish since 1979.He recently retired from the institution.I don't know if he was part time, full time or what health insurance, if any, he had(has).
