I like how you made it clear in the other thread whether the album has vocals or is instrumental

I have little patience for idiotic vocals (which is 95% of Prog lyrics) in my senior years
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Same here, though probably a lower percentage bother me. It has nothing to do with my age, I've been that way since a young pup.

well, I suppose it dates back to my youth since I never took to Genesis or Yes back in the day

Interesting - *I* certainly don't consider Gabriel's or Anderson's vocals anything close to "idiotic," though I can see them being acquired tastes. But it's interesting how some people really have extreme reactions to certain vocalists - ones which, in Gabriel's case at least, I consider pretty mainstream and "easy to like."

Back in the day, I knew people who were big fans of Zappa & The Mothers of Invention, Henry Cow, Can, Hatfield and the North, Miles Davis' fusion albums and so on, thus avant-rock and jazz-rock / fusion hardcore fans, but they were not fans of Genesis and Yes, on contrary; actually, those people were regarded Yes and Genesis - even Gabriel era - as "idiotic" and "kitsch" bands so I believe that they had the same or similar thought for the vocals of these bands too.
Personally, I've always loved both directions, I mean both symphonic rock and avant-rock, and for me, for example, Jon's vocal is what above all other things actually describes the music of Yes, i.e. Jon's vocal is their "signature" imo.

the odd thing is that when he went solo his lyrics got less intolerably pretentious and more real and down to earth. I like much of his solo stuff but cant stand his Genesis stuff. I know its crazy, but if I cant identify with the lyrics, chances are I will be repulsed by the album.

Brooklyn's Pseudo/Sentai are very talented contemporary prog band. They just released two promising songs from the upcoming album.
Btw, I did an interview with Pseudo / Sentai for progarchives.com, on the occasion of their full-lenght album Bansheeface (2015); here you can read it.

Pseudo/Sentai performed live an early version of Warewolf Casey the song from the upcoming album

    Interesting album Svetonio.

As this thread is new, one more request, if you can elaborate a bit more on the subgenre (eg. prog metal, post rock) that would help the reader to identify albums/artists worth further investigation.

Thank you for spending the time collating all the new prog releases on bandcamp.

Have all Myrrors albums and heard an advance tape of this one and it's probably their 2nd best after their classic debut. One of the best from 2016 thus far.

American bands are the best in the field of contemporary progressive psychedelia, no question.

I call em Cookie Monster vocals (picked up that phrase from someone here), and I pass on them as well. I've also come to terms with the fact that I'm not really into metal, progressive or otherwise. I'm not opposed to it, but it isn't where I live.
