She was mentioned inside Garry Shandling's thread. This is not a contest.
When my wife reads now, she has to read aloud to short-circuit her OCD. Otherwise she'll read a paragraph over and over for an hour. Last year she did Patty's autobiography, Call Me Anna so I'm just a little more than familiar with it. Ms Duke was a helluva an actress and a champion for mental health causes (she was diagnosed as bipolar as an adult).
Poor Anna, RIP doll, you were one of a kind.

A hot dog made her lose control.
Let's dedicate Duke's Travels to her then!

Rest in peace, Patty. I still remember seeing her on TV and in movies when I was a kid. Now I learn she wasn't very much older than me. Passed away at age 69.

One of my first youthful celebrity crushes. When she married John Astin, I remember thinking "How could Patty Duke marry Gomez Addams!"
At the rate we're going this year, the "In Memoriam" segments of next year's awards shows are going to take longer than the actual awards themselves.
Another sad loss. Bye Patty and Cathy.
She is survived by her identical cousin.
Had a crush on her when she was peaking with the Patty Duke show. RIP

Me too! I watched that show where she played twins when I was a kid, must have been late 50's? maybe 60 or 61? Surprised to hear she was only 6 years older than me.
The Valley of the Dolls was a patently absurd movie, but I genuinely love her in it. I genuinely love her in a lot of stuff. There’s an early 70s thriller (filmed in Minnesota) called You’ll Like My Mother that’s worth watching, even if Rosemary Murphy and a pre-Waltons Richard Thomas (damn, he was good at playing a scumbag!) threaten to steal the movie from under her.
I also remember her as an occasional panelist on Match Game. I remember there was some (good-natured) bickering between the older and younger panelists from time to time, with her and Debralee Scott (taken from us too young) on the latter side.

I was one of the few that enjoyed "It Takes Two", which only lasted one season (1982-1983). Check out the opening with Richard Crenna, Helen Hunt, and Anthony Edwards.
Her autobiography movie was pretty harrowing. She went through hell growing up as such a talented artist.
