I think I've bought about 6 country CDs in the last couple weekends. Amazing. I don't regularly buy CDs but since I got on this country kick I'm having fun again.

Really enjoying Ashes And Dust. It feels country but it's jammy. I hear lap steel, mandolin, and congas.

It's an incredible album, can't get enough of it.

Jason Isbell, live in Boston. Link goes to the opening song but the whole show is loaded up on YouTube

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

I know who Darius "Hootie" Rucker is. I'd heard that he went full on country. Never liked the Blowfish but I can understand why country fans might like them. Someone played a bunch of Blowfish songs on the jukebox yesterday and I can hear the transition that Hootie took. Then I heard that one solo-Darius track from one of his country albums. I don't know, I'm not breaking down my front door to buy any of his albums but I think it's great that he took the country music path rather than doing R&B. Good to see a country singer that doesn't fit the usual stereotype.

    NP: The Gambler.......Kenny Rogers.

Funny how most country crossover singers are guys named Kenny Rogers and Glen Campbell.

YMMV But I consider the First Edition as part of the original "outlaw" country movement of the late 60s / early 70s as opposed to a C&W Carpetbagger like Rucker, WAY before Kenny's solo career with The Gambler, Coward of the County, Lady, his fried chicken, and mega-bouts with plastic surgery...... <<<duckin;' 'n' runnin' >>>

I remember The First Edition. They had a hit called Ruben James. Another called Something 's Burning, or something.
