Why no politics or religion in OT? Are these topics not related to music?
Why no politics or religion in OT? Are these topics not related to music?
To be or not to be? That is the point. - Harry Nilsson.
From the PE Terms of Service:
That sentiment sums it up well. This is a music forum. It is not a forum for expressing your views on politics, religion, race, sexual orientation, or any other sensitive subjects. There are literally thousands of forums on the Internet for those topics - and this is not one of them.
Regardless that politics and religion can/does intersect with music, it's been a long standing truth on PE that such discussions, even when briefly tolerated, eventually devolve and have to be shut down.
I hope that answers your question.
WANTED: Sig-worthy quote.
Hi Steve, Because it is a qualified OT i.e. OT (music and arts). It isn't a free for all OT.
The OT in the community forums is more open but still not for politics and religion.
You can start a group if you like, on any subject EXCEPT music related, and there you can discuss politics and religion to your heart's content.
They used to be allowed. But, Phil Collins jumped in and ruined everything.

Please...Jon Anderson and Steven Wilson are volatile enough subjects for this forum.
This board can barely handle Yes/Jon Anderson threads...let alone heady subjects like politics or religion.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.
Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.
I'm only here to reglaze my bathtub.
Perhaps the Whigs or the Bull Moose Party are no longer interested in political debate.

Boss Tweed was corrupt!
The Synod of Hippo was lame!

I can already feel us sliding down the slippery slope.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world.
When did emoticons become emojis and why?
And while we are questioning things why was my Nad Sylvan post moved to the "what's on what's new" board? If it does belong there then why wasn't the "Peter Hammill plays two shows in Canada" thread moved there too? Oh because Peter Hammill didn't post it? Well guess what? I'm not Nad Sylvan.

Emoji is shorter and came from Japanese who borrowed the "emo" part and added "ji" which is part of "kanji", or character - as in the script. It is a little odd if being used with English speakers but I like it better than emoticon. Not that I use either word, but....
Lets stick to music, the stuff we love. Lets not poison the well so to speak, people end up falling out when they have so much more in common.
