If you really want to interface with some of your old PE friends, why let your apprehension towards FB stop you from doing that?
Facebook is a diversion and a waste of time. I mean that in a good way. You can customize the experience so that it works for you. Here are my recommendations to Geeze and anyone else on the fence.
1. Give it 30 days. Get on there and load up a bunch of your friends and friends by association. If you don't like it, quit.
2. FB can be a great source to get news from your special interests. Go find 40-50 musical artists and become fans of their page. You'll get access to quick and customized news that way. There are interests outside of that as well. I belong to a quaint little FB group that shares images and stories from my old hometown.
3. Filter out the negative. For me, the negative are people who INSIST on using FB as a platform to post/share every political item that crosses their path. If there are people like this you can either "unfriend them", or (less harmfully) remove their post from your feed.
