Where's Battema these days? I haven't seen that gawdawful avatar of his for awhile. Of course, if this absence means a new ES album, then I'm all for it.

Funny, as social media evolves, the less enthralled I am with it. These days, I'm starting to understand why Ted Kaczynski went off the rails as he did. I jumped in headfirst during the 300-baud era Commodore 64/Coleco Adam days using CompuServe>PeopleLink>ProtoCall>Prodigy>AOL before I started weaning myself off the distraction in the late 90s. When Twitter debuted I was invited by a friend who was an early adopter. This must've been around 2005 or so. Spent all of one week on it before deciding I had better ways to waste time. Then came FB and the whole phenomenon of the "Friends collectors" and what others have already observed and commented on, FB being the platform for (pick your political/social/religious leanings)-wingnut utterances. I've chosen to limit my FB activity to immediate family only and a few select correspondents.

PE is one of the only regular things I do online anymore, not only for the vast array of informed participants, but for the sheer entertainment value of the um...*cough*...regular cast of characters' contributions.

Perhaps because he changed his avatar?

About Twitter, I've used it, had fun, but couldn't really understand the appeal.

He posted something off-color, and somebody called him on it. He apologized and said he was going into the penalty box for a while. Maybe he's still keeping himself off the ice.

Boy they sure do. Although I haven't had to change the setting for a few weeks, fb has freqeuently changed this back to "top stories" on me. I'm guessing over the last 18 months I've had to re-change back to "viewing most recent stories" at least a dozen times. Why give the option to change how your news feed is displayed if they're going to keep changing it back on you!

I just changed my settings (thanks, Cozy!), and it said that it would eventually revert back.

So stupid. "We see that you want this setting changed, but we don't care - we're changing it back, anyway."

I have to change Facebook to 'most recent' at least a few times per week.

Today they added more options to the 'like' feature.

I once googled this fb issue and came across the following fb link that assures news feed displays "most recent". I have found it works well, though will sometimes migrate to fb from other sites/apps and it is during some of these entries to fb that the setting changes on me. Anyway, Gruno & others, give it a try....

Ah...I recall having to insert that address (or part of it) into your current browser address then save/bookmark the new link. Something like that. Sorry, but I'm not a techy and I followed whatever the instructions were that I read at the time. Somewhere here may be the solution you're looking for!

That's because I'm not a twit, and my gf is not a twat

In short, while indeed I can still see a usefulness in fb (my hatred of fb is not just linked to zuckerberg, but how people misuse it or let it run their lives), I clearly don't see one in twit-ter

Outside , that is, to prove to the planet you're existing and show how much of a twit you are.

Cooee, Hugues before really disliking fb you ought atleast join and become a member I understand what you mean but the reality/experience is very different to what you might perceive it to be. You can be anonymous on fb if you wish to be or only share info with friends etc etc. etc. but judging that network site without even have joined this certainly will not give any kind of correct or otherwise perception
